Getting Ready

Hello all! Today I finished stocking up on my healthy foods, and I got my before pictures taken. This is the first time I've ever seen a back shot of myself, and it was distressing to see...I don't like the other views, either, but I guess i am more or less accustomed to seeing

My Purpose

Hello all! It's been a frustrating little bit, with computer issues, and of course, life issues. I haven't made a total backslide, but I pretty much stagnated and fell back into old, comfortable bad habits.  I have been absent from here partially because of computer problems, b

Hi, Andrea! There's going to be a CO meet-and-greet Nov 21. We'd love to see you there. Here's the thread where it's being discussed and planned. Have a blessed weekend! http://www.transformation.com/forum/colorado-wyoming-transformers/18964-possible-get-together-2.html#post290955

New Year's Eve Resolution Run 5k at Washington Park in Denver, CO. One of my goals is to run it in under 35 minutes. :) After the run people go to the high school (where I parked for the Brent's Place 5k last time) for free pizza and raffle prizes. It's a fun experience, and it's early in the evening, so you still can celebrate the actual new year someplace else afterwards.

By the way, I really want to extend gratitude to those of you who took the time to post on here, or send me mail, just to encourage and care. That means more to me than you know--and made coming back yesterday a joy rather than a shame/pain--so THANK YOU!

It's been a struggle for a little while for me, but I am back, and I am fired up for the new Holiday Challenge! Tomorrow I am going to have a professional photographer take my before pictures...really pushing myself out of my comfort zone here...and then I'll have to figure out how to post them on here, since I don't have a scanner. I'm already ashamed of what they will look like, and they aren't even done yet, but the *after* pictures are what will matter, right?

I Am

I hope to be the kind of person my dogs already think I am." :) I am one of millions of overweight people in the United States of America. I am sharing in this journey of attaining better hope, health and happiness. For so long I was so focused on my own struggles with food and obesity that I failed to see it as a true epidemic in my community and country.

My Favorite Charity

MS Society, Seva, Open Arms Pregnancy Center

To me, Transformation Means

...finding a balance of physical, mental and spiritual well being that results in a life well lived.

My Goals

By January 1st I will:

*Lose 25 lbs of body fat
*Be involved in an ongoing volunteer job that positively impacts the community in which I live.
*Raise at least $50 for the restoration of sight to a blind person through Seva's Gifts of Sight program (http://www.seva.org).
*Be able to run the New Year's Eve Resolution Run 5k in under 35 minutes.
*Pay off 1/5 of my debt.
*Take steps five and six.
*Apply for college financial aid.
*Have my home and car organized and free of clutter.
*Successfully complete a new skills training for work.
*Have a regular walking and grooming routine for my dogs.
*Complete the four training books relevant to my new assignment at work.

My Intentions

"God, I offer myself to Thee-to build with me and do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!" --Bonus Points if you know the origin of that prayer! :) I intend to improve my own health and societal contribution, and in the process inspire and guide others in their life journey, as long as my Higher Power allows me to do so.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I'd like to inspire people who are feeling held back by their weight or lifestyle, as well as people who feel stagnant and without purpose, as I so often have.
