Bill and Stoney's Pre-Race Pep Talk... Gone Wild

Okay this video is being posted by request from folks who were at the Denver Event last month. I considered the material to be 'deleted scenes' or 'outtakes' but I was asked to share it by quite a few of you, so here it is. (There's more where this came from.)

I'll preface it by saying that yes, we take Transformation work seriously, but not too much so. And that's kind of important. Having light-hearted fun and seeing the comedy in our own lives can really help keep things in perspective, can help us stay stress free, and it has even been proven to help lower our risk of disease.

I've gotten to the point where about everyday I realize something else about myself that I find hilarious. These humbling observations and self-realizations often find their way into conversations with friends and sometimes it all goes wild and we just can't stop laughing about it. My friends like Stoney, Paige, Chelsea and Clarissa are great crack-up buddies as none of them take things too seriously and all are gentle with their jokes rather than mean-spirited, sarcastic, or taunting (and that is all SO important for keeping the comedy healthy).

I gotta say, it wasn't always like this for me; it's a nice reward from doing years of emotional work to process and heal from the bumps and bruises of growing up in the modern world. As I continue my weekly work (and believe me, it's ongoing work!) to identify, properly deal with, and become free from thoughts, patterns, and perceptions that are not good for me, I feel myself  becoming more and more light hearted and free of worry and regret. I look forward to making continued progress in this area of my life, for sure.

So anyway, be forewarned, if you make it to an upcoming seminar and/or workshop, you can pretty much count on comedy being a part of it. You never know when though. =)

All right... that's it for now. Hope you are having a great week!

I just watched this video for the 3rd time and I'm still laughing my head off every time I see it. At least on the video I can back it up and re-play what I was missing while laughing. I missed a lot of it in Denver because I was laughing too hard. And Dustyluv - I know what you mean. The lady with the oxygen tank passed me up too!! I had to get up by her again and ask her some questions. She was 72 and this was her 27th marathon since she was 51. She was an inspiration to me at the same time she was humiliating me =( It was great to re-live that fun time! I love it that you both are so REAL, just crazy like so many of us are. Thanks for all the laughs once again. I actually downloaded it and I'll rewatch it again I'm sure.....Teresa

Lol, Too funny! My 13.1 miles went something like that.. LOL I remember being like 5 miles into it or something like that... and you come up to this place where folks who are like 3 miles from finishing are running in the opposite direction... I'm not gonna lie, the thought crossed my mind, just hop around that cone and start going the other way! LOL Boy, next year will be a different story for me on the marathon running.. It was HARD work. I'm go glad i did it, and finished it.. but me and some gals were walking along, i remember asking out loud "Is it wrong to want to steal that vespa out of this guys yard, and finish up that way" She said "Heck no, I was picturing pushing people off their bicycles and taking them" We had some good laughs... I got passed up by an elderly woman on oxygen for crying out loud! I wanted to lie down in the grass of the second park and take a nap! Boy those were some good good times!

This was such a lighthearted comedic part of the gathering and it is so great that you captured it for all of us! What I so appreciate about you Bill as a leader is your willingness to be open and even "laugh" about the things that others in your position would probably try and hide. Sometimes how we inspire most is by being willing to own "our weaknesses, fears, and doubts". It sure does help others to accept their own and to see that we can be "great" anyway!! That really speaks to my heart. Thank you for being humble enough to laugh about you. It sure does say a lot about the "inner work" you have done. There is no greater leader than one who "Walks the Walk" and doesn't just "Talk the Talk". Bless you Bill!~Roberta

This was so hilarious!! I was already freaking out whether I was going to be able to pull this 1/2 marathon off and when he started talking about 7 min. miles I wondered if I could OBVIOUSLY fall off my high heals and twist an ankle and have an excuse not to run! When you got into this, it really helped me to look at the fun in it and the real reason we were there, just finish it, walk it if need be and grant the wishes! Thank you for your down to earth, approachable personality and your incredible sense of humor. Stoney & you together remind me of Carson & McMahon, they just fit together! Love it, love you!

jetl2022 wrote 103 Days Ago

One of my most treasured pieces of advice that I got while training for my marathon came just minutes before the race started. A veteran marathoner told me that at the end I would be passed by fat people, thin people, old people, and young people alike, but not to let it bother me. He then related a hilarious story about his first marathon and how he was passed by a young man with a severe handicap in one of his legs. It was just the laugh I needed pre-race to loosen up the pre-race tension and get started on the right foot! Laughter is the best medicine...thanks for sharing!

It IS so good to be able to laugh at yourself, something I too work on much of the time.. Bill, you are such an example of a life lived beyond "self", commitment to a dream you already "know" will come about and it IS, and the well-known spiritual masters all have that gleam in their eye, a hearty laugh that comes easily and really no "self-consciousness" to interfere with life. I see that in you, and in others here, and it flows through the community - love and laughter. Great laughs - thinking about Dallas, this encourages me!

Bill and Coach, That was one of the funniest parts of that whole weekeend. I remember telling Sophie about that in the hotel that night on the phone, and now she gets to see what I was talking about--You two are hysterical!!!! Thanks for sharing that--Isn't it just great when you can work, and have such a good laugh with friends :) Just awesome--Thanks again, Brian

I forgot about the green screen in the park and the mushroom GU...Oh my gosh, that is some funny stuff and even better when I can see you perform it from head on. Laughing is so much fun and even better when we can laugh at ourselves. Thanks..Stone

When you talked about the couple race walking and keeping up with you was hilarious at the time...Then when Jami (quadsmom) and Brooke (Kbrooke) and I were out on the course at mile 12 a little old lady with an oxygen tank on her back passed us!! That is not a lie!! We almost fainted from laughing so hard...It was too funny....I have never had so much fun as I had in Denver during the conference and the run. I cannot wait for Dallas...I hope no little old ladies pass me...I might die from laughter...

Bill that was one of my favorite experiences at the conference!! I caught some of it on video with bad sound so I am so happy you posted it!! Thank you! I tell ya, the next day...when we got lost ...walking...you know they start taking down signs after the rest of you pass by...well, I think there was a place on the walk where we found your green screen! lol ...with a hill...and a little panting!! well, at least from me! and hair getting caught in tree branches...not sure how we found trees but we did!! I loved remembering some of this humour that you shared with us the day before race day - made the whole experience richer!! love you!! MaryPat

I think I have watched this about 6 times now! LOL And I am still laughing. I just love it!!! The part that really gets me, is the part talking about the fast walking older couple I laughed so hard as it reminded me when I got passed by a PREGNANT lady during the marathon! I tried to catch her but never did. LOL!! good times. I just love Stoney! He cracks me up on a daily basis! You chose great friends to surround yourself with! **more out takes please**
