Hi Charles, I just read your comment about the free day & the binge it can trigger. I know just where you're coming from. I go a week eating perfectly then I get a whiff of sugar, When i put an m&m in my mouth, that's it, I'm off & running. the trick is, pay attention to how you are feeling about the way you are eating during the week. If it's a struggle to stay away from bad foods then looking forward to the cheat day is a great way to eat well most of the time because we know we CAN have these foods once a week. If we took the position of I can never have the bad foods i love again, it can put too much psychological pressure on us & we are sure to break & flush all progress right down the drain. You can feel the progress you make during the week because you feel better, lighter. When we have the cheat day it is to show us that the "feel good" foods we used to live on do not make us feel good so we jump right on track the following day with our program & we make progress. It is very important to destroy ANY & ALL cheat day foods before the stroke of midnight on cheat day! Pay attention to how you feel during the week if it is NOT a struggle at all to be in the room alone with a food that does not serve you. I f you can look at an open bowl of peanutbutter m&m's & not sweat it, well then if you want to skip one cheat day then go for it. Always remember Life is not a single encounter. It is a series of experiments in succession, each building upon the last. We ARE getting better. We are writing to eachother on this site, because we believe! We are coming together to achieve a common goal. We do this "Most the time" which is, at least for me, a far cry from the way I've lived most of my life. You are getting better with every single rep, step & stroke of the keyboard buddy! ~michaeldwyer
