Week 8 Progress
I am a bit confused about the stats that came up. I am working out hard, eating right, yet it shows I've lost muscle. I feel great, and I feel results, so I am just going to keep pushing it as hard as I can!!
Comparison: Challenge #1, Week #1 vs. Challenge #1, Week #8

Carolynn you are doing fantastic. It is so much about feeling good. I also believe when you take care of yourself and eat right and work out your body finds the place it belongs That is such a beautiful thing This Transformation is so much about feeling good and being healthy. I can attest to that. Please ignore that stuff let your body mind and soul become what it is inteneded to be and just absolutely love it! I also can't stress enough Just plane old have fun!! Marty
Thanks Michelle. I am really working out hard. I can hardly sit or stand up today because my quads feel like they are going to explode from the other days workout. I changed up the exercises and wowowowow, I feel it today!! So I know I have to be doing something good. I'm not going to get crazy with "stats". I feel great and that is what I am going to focus on!
Here's another bit of info a degreed trainer/nutritionist gave me when I was concerned about this exact thing last challenge: As you lose fat you don't need quite all the muscle to support the fat, blood vessels, extras, etc. that you have lost. So, even if you lose a bit and are as strong, hey that's OK. You are still leaner BF% wise. You are doing wonderfullly. Don't let that cloud the noggin. ;->
Hi Rena! Thank you so much for all that information. I have been going by the reading on my scale. I am going to go have it done by a trainer that I know and see what he comes up with. Not that it really matters much at this point, I just want to make sure that if I am working as hard as I am, that I am doing it right. Like I said, I see and feel progress, so for me that is all I really need. I don't see myself ever competing or anything like that, I am just wanting to be in the best physical (and mental) health that I have ever been before. Again, thank you so much for all the information, I appreciate you taking the time to give that to me!
Hi CinAZ- Are you using Fat calipers? They have a significant margin of error depending on many factors...it could be as much as 4 to 5% off! So your real body fat for week eight could be as low as 32.4%! I found these on the web to increase your chances of a more accurate reading... # For greatest accuracy, use them at the same time of the day. # It is important to take the reading within four seconds of application. A delay in measurement can result in considerable underestimating of the skin fold measurements. # It is best to not use the body fat calipers immediately after exercising. # Measuring changes in skin fold measurements provides for greater accuracy than converting those measurements to body fat percentages. # Use body fat calipers only to measure your progress, not to compare your percentage of body fat to charts or to others. # When being tested by someone else, try to get an experienced examiner to do the measurement. It is also a good idea to have the same examiner measure you each time. # If possible, it is a good idea to have a professional hydrostatic weighing test to determine body fat percentage. Having a professional test done can help provide a benchmark for the accuracy of your body fat calipers. Hope this helps.... .................You should be celebrating for sure, Way to go! :+)Rena
Yes Michelle, but on 7 weeks it said 3.6 lbs. I know it isn't much, but was trying to figure out how when I was adding weight to my workouts, my muscle went down. Confused me a bit. I was worried I was doing something wrong. I want the BF to go down. Don't want to be thin and all BF, want to be lean & toned. Make sense? It is all so confusing to me, I don't understand all the "technical" stuff. I am going to just keep doing what I'm doing, I feel awesome and I am seeing results, I am not going to cloud my brain with unneccessary concern. I'm sure it will all even out in the end. it has to, I am following it by the book! Can't wait to see you in Tennessee!!!!!
Now I'm confused. Doesn't it show a muscle gain of 3.3 pounds?
Carolynn, I have to agree with Clarissa. You are doing a great job even though the numbers tricked you. Heck! Look at what you are doing with hour hips, waist and calves. I hope that when I hit my eight weeks that I will be doing as well as you. Ignore the numbers!
Losing muscle is inevitable. It is one of those tricks that bodybuilders have been trying to resolve in weightloss and maintaining their muscle mass. YOU my friend, are doing great......keep bulldozing ahead Carolynn!!! :) 17lbs is great!!!
