Blessing in Disguise
I had something happen today that I think may have been a blessing in disguise.
I finished up at work early so I headed home to get some things done and then join my family up north. When I got home, I decided to paint the base coat in the little toilet room of my bathroom before I left. It has to dry at least 24 hours before you apply the faux paint, so I figured I would get it done so when we get home I could get it all finished. It took a bit longer then expected but I got it done. I went out to make sure all the animals were fed and watered, had some chew toys and would be taken care of until my son got home later. I gathered my things and set out for my 3 hour drive.
About 4 miles out, I realized I forgot to grab my laptop power cord and a few other things. I was going to just keep going, but decided to turn around and go get them. I went back got everything and set back out. About 45 minutes into my trip, people were flashing their headlights on and off at us (their oncoming traffic). I assumed they were "alerting" us of a hidden police car. Traffic started stopping and pretty soon we were at a complete stop. We ended up creeping and stopping for almost an hour. When we finally got to a certain point, I was horrified to see what was ahead. 4 vehicles, seriously mangled, 2 of which looked like the occupants may not have made it. Thinking of the time it took me to turn around and go back for this darn laptop cord, may have saved my life. I would have been to just about that point had I not gone back.
Normally I would have been really irritated sitting in traffic like that for an hour, not knowing what was ahead, but instead I listened to my ipod, filed and buffed my nails, wrote in my Success Journal and read a bit of a magazine. Never once did I feel irritated or put out for the delay. I will never in the future let myself get "put out" for some delay. That delay just might save my life!

Thank you all! I definitely won't be upset in the future for unforseen delays! Something even told me this time to just relax and enjoy my quiet time.
I love this story, Carolynn. Thanks for taking the time to share it. It reminds me of that story you told about your wallet and all those checks that one time. Somebody is watching out for you!
WOW - funny how those things work . . . I'm SO glad you're safe - your family has sure been through enough lately. Love ya gal - Terrie By-the-way, you look GREAT!!!! Those are only week 4 pics? YOU GO GIRL!!!
Great Attitude. I can't remember who said that "Attitudes are contagious", but I want to catch yours. -- Lisa
Wow, you just gave me chills. You most definitely have a guardian angel watching over you. I know I woudn't have went back for the chord. I probably would have just stopped off somewhere near my destination, and bought another one. Everything happens for a reason! Thanks for sharing.
