Ironman 70.3 training blog - Week 1

Well, week 1 is almost a wrap...one more swim workout today, and a 2 hour bike ride tomorrow, and week 1 will be in the books.  I'm loving the rigid regimen that I'm following for this race, and I'm finding that when it comes to training, I'm at my best when I am following a detailed program.&n...

First Blog - 2010...it's been a while!

It has been quite some time since I've posted a blog on here, so forgive me for being a bit rusty.  I'm not back here at T.com as a challenger right now, but have vowed to be a member for as long as possible.  Reflecting back on my Transformation Challenge of 2009, I can think of nothing b...

Eric! I saw that you were in Paul's HHC group and it made me so excited (I am too)! Your presence on T.com has been missed. I'm anxious to hear what you decided about the triathlon...if you talked with your wife and if you're training for it. All I can say is that training like something for that is pretty taxing, so it is imperative that you two are on the same page and that you have her support 100%! I'm sure she will love to support you and see you succeed. I'm so grateful for a supportive husband...when I crossed the finish line of my marathon last month, I think he was more excited than I was! And that made all the difference in the world...hope you're well, buddy!

Hi Eric, I just wanted to say I really love your goals about bringing your relationship with God to take precedence in your life. I am recently changed spiritually to start following a similar path. Thanks for inspiring me to move forward with your presence here in the community! -Andrew

Eric, Thank you for the sweet message on my page about my new baby. I feel so grateful and blessed. I can tell you really define what "an amazing father" is. You are filled with so much love and positivity. I hope to follow in your footsteps and become an "amazing mom". :) And, like Paul says, I hope to meet you someday soon! Aloha :)))

Thanks Eric! I hope all is well with you and family. How is the triathlon training going? I'm hanging out for Denver. It's not going to be long now and I can't wait to meet so many people from this community. I hope we can meet one day my friend! Cheers, Paul.

Thanks for dropping by Eric. My running is going well. It's winter here so I've been out in all sorts of crazy rain and wind! :-) I'm slowly starting to build up the distance. I did 6 miles the other day and I'll do 7 this weekend. Hope all if well with you are the family. Cheers, Paul.

I Am

...a man of change. A man with drive and dedication. A man with a purpose. I am a family man...a man of God. I am a man that has found himself once again...a man that has learned so much in being here at T.com, and a man that has a lot more to learn. I'm a blessed man with a beautiful wife and beautiful children...a man of many riches.

My Favorite Charity

American Heart Association; Surfrider Foundation; Palm Harbor Community Church (my church); Lance Armstrong Foundation.

To me, Transformation Means

The complete restructuring of myself. An overhaul from the ground up involving a thorough inspection of my life...thoughts, feelings, actions, faith, commitment, habits, ethos, goals, attitude, career, relationships, fitness, health, and eating. Up, down, left, and right...I need to evaluate all aspects and make improvements. I find that so many people spend so much time saying "I can't", or "I don't have time"...not just with fitness, but with life. I've been there as well, but reality says that we ALL can if we take the time to focus and breathe. We can all do better and we can all learn more, so why settle for mediocrity? Transformation means that I'm choosing to do something positive with my life with the hope that it will be fulfilling, meaningful, and that it will inspire others to reach beyond their perceived capacity.

My Goals

My relationship with God must take precedence over everthing else. For far too long I have held up the power struggle and have felt that I held my life's destiny. I will let go, and let God. I need to grow with him, and work in his light. My relationship with my wife and kids is awesome, and this is something that I take great pride in...HOWEVER, no matter how much of an expert we may be at something, we can always improve. I CAN be a better husband, and I CAN be a better father. I WILL be both. Fitness...no words can describe the discontent that I have about my body and it's current state. I loathe the fact that I have worked so hard so many times, only to come back to complacency all over again. I WILL be the change, and I WILL succeed in my fitness goals. In all of this, I long to help others, and be of service to those in need. I know that I am capable of so much more, but it's time to put it all into action.

My Intentions

Be open to the change, work hard at the change, and BE THE CHANGE. The only true constant is change, and I intend to do all in my power and by God's plan to not only improve my life, but help anyone that I possibly can. There are so many people out there that are in one form of need or another, and sometimes it just takes a small gesture to make a huge impact in someone's life. I intend on opening myself up to the awareness that this exists all around me, and I need to learn how to both identify it and work hard at making a difference.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

My mom, my sister, and everyone else that I'm in contact with. I hope the impact, however, reaches out much further than that. I'd like to make a difference in as many lives as possible.
