the waiting game...
waiting for our grandbaby...
i guess he was one of the reasons this grandma-to-be got motivated to get herself in better condition.
my kids really havent had a grandma.
my biological mother died at age 39, when i was 18 months old. (sudden, unknown cause...in her sleep)
my step mother had a stroke while i was in college and that is who they remember as Grammy, but she passed away when the kids were about 7 or 8 years old.
my mother in law is the only one still alive, and although she lives 5 houses away from us, we really never see her. she has battled with depression and fibromyalgia for decades and its not easy to live around people in chronic pain. worse yet, she isnt doing anything to really take control of it or minimize it as the doctors and the books tell her to. she won't eat right, won't sleep right, won't exercise, won't even go outside in the sun for a few minutes. if it isnt a pill, no thank you. She sleeps all day and is awake all night...but we just dont feel like visiting them at 2 am...sorry.
so...i am gonna be a grandma soon. very soon.
i am going to do all i can to stay fit and active and "outward" focused and involved to give an example to this little guy of what is possible. not all grandmas are sickly or fat.
some are awesomely fun to be with!
this is a grandma that wants to climb mountains or go on safari or surfing or something fun like that when he graduates from high school...hey...i will probably be about 62 then...that's not too old to have fun, eh?
so now, i keep running and lifting and my daughter has just finished her semester of classes and is tappin her fingers....c'mon little Noah...you can come now.
of course you will get pictures when he makes his grand appearance.

lucky you lucky baby very cool!
They are so much Joy! I am so excited for you cause I know what it is like being a grandma!
Being a 45 year old nanna to 10, we have been able to enjoy more time with our grandkids than our own kids. We took our kids skating since they were 3 and we enjoy skating with our grandkids now. It is a great work out and a great way to spend time with everyone. And I personally don't think Noah will mind surfing or spending time with his new grandma no matter what age, as long as he can keep up with her. LOL. Can't wait to see the pics.
Maryann, You are going to be the hippest (no not hippiest :) GRAND ma ever! I'm very excited for your new arrival and addition to your new life purpose! xoxoxo
You are going to have so much fun!!!! My mom loves to be "OMA", even though she is very ill. Imagine how much more fun you can have with your grandchild, being healthy and fit! You'll have a blast!
