Being In the ZONE
We know when we are in the ZONE for personal change. It feels different than being in another state of mind. We have clarity, vision and most importantly, we WANT something. Something bigger, better than our present selves. When we are in the ZONE, our actions are aligned with what it is that we want, so much so that it can't help but happen.
Why is it that, though being in the ZONE is a wonderful state, this state can be difficult to achieve? Why is it that we have difficulty making the decision to change, the decision to refocus, the decision to improve?
I struggle with this concept every time I am "getting ready" to make a change, to either commit or recommit to an elusive desired end state. Why is that comfort zone so darned, well, comfortable!?
We are all illusionists, able to rationalize our way to convincing ourselves that our current state is "just fine", "not that bad", "better than so and so", fill in the blank. That's why taking a before picture is such a revelation - it's hard not to face the facts! However, for some, the before picture is still not a compelling enough reason to move forward and sometimes what needs changing is not in the physical form.
I am hitting "pause" on the remote today. I need to ask myself if my actions speak what I want them to. I have to ask myself what others would say if they were to describe me and would I like what they have to say. That is my before picture. Do I like what I see? I'll have that answer tomorrow. I want to be in the ZONE again. I need to clarify my thoughts and get real with what I know to be true, without the benefit of a sugar coating of rationalization.
Here's to setting goals and walking the talk.
Namaste.

Yes! Why is "getting in the zone" so hard? Once you are there, however, everything seems to make so much sense. When I'm "in the zone" I hop out of bed bright and early and head to the gym before work, easily say "no thanks" to those donuts someone brought in. Getting there sometimes seems impossible, but you know it's not because you've been there before. I finally took my photo yesterday and did the exercise. That made all the difference After seeing what I saw in that photo, it forced me to be back in the zone. There's no where else I'd rather be! Thanks for your blog! It's so good to know I'm not alone.
One day, and soon, my wish is that you see the person I see when I look at you. You will be blown away! ;-> No sugar coating here.
Good points. real food for thought today.
