Go Ahead, Expand Your Comfort Zone
I have seen massive changes all around me over the last number of months. The common thread is that I've noticed that the more we push past our comfort zone, the more energized we become as individuals.
I've done my fair share of changes in my personal and professional life, but so have some other folks close to me. Here are the comments that seem to be universal:
- Wow! That was incredible!
- I can't believe I did that!
- I was really nervous about it, but it feels great!
- I feel alive and energized!
- Why didn't I try this sooner?
- What else can I try now?
- I didn't know I could do this!
- Where did that come from?
- I want other people to try this!
Yes, there were a lot of exclamation marks in the list above, but they are necessary because all of the above WERE exclamations. The interesting thing is that this change, this trying something new was not exhausting. It was energizing and empowering. What is exhausting is the mulling over or agonizing about the change before doing it. It's also what keeps us from taking action.
That is it that is keeping you from trying something new and sharing some of the exclamations listed above? Please, I beg you to just try something you've wanted to do. I don't care if it's cleaning out your closet once and for all, trying a new exercise in the gym, speaking to someone you've wanted to introduce yourself to for some time or even skydiving. It's amazing what other good things will come your way as a result of getting past the inertia. You can translate that positive energy from such an accomplishment to other things on your 'I wish I would/could' list.
What have you been meaning to do or try? Go for it. Expand your comfort zone! The expansion is permanent, forever larger (no one can take a life expenrience away from you, so how could it shrink?). I promise you that you will never quite be the same...you'll be a better version of your former self.
I'd love to hear about your own comfort zone story. Please add your comment. It might inspire more people than you know!
Namaste.
Hélène

I feel what you are saying. Moving pass the comfort zone is a win - win for me. I thought I would never openly pray in front of others. I now trust in Him that when I open my mouth the words will come. Good blog. Anita
