Letting go...of stuff (update)

Well,

I wrote over a week ago about the fact that I was starting to lose another kind of weight: stuff! Since I last wrote, I have completely emptied all my closets and set them back up, removing all goods that I did not need or want anymore. As a result, I have removed:

  • 10 bags of casual clothes and 5 garbage bags of junk
  • 40 hangers' worth of dress/office clothing
  • 2 X 8' tables of things to sell (baskets, my entire candle, CD, VHS collection, many books, jewellery)
  • Furniture: 4 book cases, 1 TV, 2 TV stands, CD tower, couch and chair, etc.

It feels amazing! Laughing

I have moved all the stuff that I did not give away/throw out and put them for sale in a garage sale. Today was the first of three days that I will do this. I plan on keeping 50% to pay for my Personal Trainer Certification and 50% is going to my favourite charity. I have already raised $110 in only 3hrs.

After the three days, the remainder will be given away. This is not going back in the house!

I am not done. I still have quite a ways to go before I have rid the house of all that is not necessary/frequently used but WOW, what a difference this has made already!

I encourage anyone who has been thinking of doing this to take the plunge. It's amazing what it is doing to my quality of life. It is providing clarity and focus for what I truly want/need out of life. The other stuff is just noise.

Take care all.

I need to work on this SO bad. Usually when my closets get out of control, instead of working all day to get them in order, I open the door, shudder, close my eyes tightly, and close it back as quickly as possible!!! Not a very effective tool to deal with clutter!!! But, you are right, when you get rid of the "stuff", it makes your whole being feel better. I need to make this a priority also!! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Helene,Good for you!!! I did the same thing. I carted off something like 3 truck loads of STUFF. It was so invigorating to rid myself of all of that excess. I still have more rooms in my house to go through and it will be done before the end of this transformation. Best of luck with your continued journey.
