Strengthening My Belief Muscle

“The secret of making something work in your lives is, first of all, the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and belief that it can work; then to hold that clear definite vision in your consciousness and see it working out step by step, without one doubt or disbelief.” Eileen Caddy    In my last challenge I noticed mid way through, as certain things were starting to change, I actually connected at a deeper ...

Our Habitual thoughts...

“Our destiny changes with our thoughts; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thoughts correspond with our desires.”—Orison Swett Marsden  I came upon this quote today and I thought it was very fitting for the first day of my new challenge.  Yesterday I blogged a bit about the power of words—those we speak, those think.  This carries forward on that theme&helli...

A MIghty Fine 2009!

At the dinner table last night we got talking about the power of words.  "Fine" in and of itself is a bit limp....add "mighty" in front of it changes fine into something much more positive.  In the last challenge we were guided to be aware of our words...the ones we think and those we speak.  They are as powerful to our day as sails are to a boat.   One more sleep until my next challenge begins! &...

Celebrate 2008!!!

While I do have many ideas, hopes and dreams for the new year very close at hand, I am holding 2008 close to my heart.  This year has been a very good one...I say goodbye to it with so much affection and gratitude.    Have you ever bought a new car, and you were so excited about it, and then at the same time it was hard to release your current one…the one that got you reliably here and there, with so many good m...

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in First Grade…

You may know the best selling book by Robert Folghum, “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”  It is a unique book of life lessons.  My version would be based on first grade...and a two liner.   I was talking with a friend about some childhood Christmas memories and one thing just kept staying with me.  A little more personal reflection made what I need to share very clear.  Back in ...

TIME TO MOVE FORWARD

I love clocks. I have one in almost every room of the house because they seem to finish it off.  But it's a big job when the clocks change.  I was told it is important to only move clocks forward.  So I have a method for that in the fall. It got me thinking how symbolic that is for moving through life---how important it is to not try to change "backward."  The past has some important information in it, but life needs...

Great to Extraordinary

Today is "All Hallow's Eve"  It is also the eve of my next 18 weeks of doing Transformation at a challenge level.  I am feeling so good this Halloween, free of the hold that sugar once had over my life.  I am excited to continue pushing through what I thought I could do.  I am excited to anticipate the miracles that show up when we open ourselves to more.  This is my blog from June 29.  I...

Living the Change

This challenge has been extremely rewarding for me.  I have been a fan of this lifestyle for 2.5 years and it has been very interesting to step up my efforts as far as the workouts and nutrition go.  I enjoy the personal discovery that Bill's exercises lead us through.  I LOVE the community involvement here.  I get a huge lift just practicing the BE the CHANGE spirit through my days (where did all these beautiful people c...

Learning to Be

Reading a thread by Clarissa yesterday got my heart pounding. (It a good one—see Letting Go of the Desire to Control) “And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”  My profound joy is from the understanding how peaceful life can be when we utilize the Serenity Prayer….accept  the things we cannot change (other people, the past, etc) and take up the coura...

EVEN EAGLES NEED TO LEARN HOW TO FLY

This past weekend helping get my oldest daughter set up in her apartment where she will live while at university this year took me back to a very special experience we had.   My daughters and I had the privilege of watching a fantastic happening in nature.  Nothing rare, just rare to be so close and witness to. We had an eagle's nest in a large tree at the corner of our property.  It was awesome ...

Bringing my sexy back.........

Okay, don't laugh....actually DO laugh if you want...laughing's good, even if it's at me.  I just need to share this, as it feels so, so good.  Part of me is tempted to brush it off as a small thing, or a surfacy thing...but it's not.  Feeling sexy again is HUGE for me.  It should be something we all feel.  This week I had a few zolts, kind of like a defibulator shocking my system, getting my sexy going again....Firs...

TAKE IT EASY

I see it as no coincidence that today I received a brilliant live illustration of what I decided was my biggest fight to give up. (re:Bill's exercise # 11) I realize that I took striving for excellence to often mean "to succeed by doing it the hard way."  I am very grateful for an inventive mind and spirit...it has been a lot of fun to takes ideas forward.  But I never got the importance of finding simple ways of doing th...

Waves of Transformation

Thinking about traveling to Hawaii has had me reflecting a bit.  The last time I was in Hawaii was about 12 years ago.  I love the water and am a good swimmer.  I learned to body surf in Australia and it had always been fun.  One day I headed out in the water and played in the surf for a bit, and then a big wave was coming so I turned to grab it in my stroke.  Instead, it grabbed me.  I could feel myself flipping aro...

ONE OF THOSE UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCES

I took a run in a forest trail yesterday morning.  There was a sign at the beginning of the trail marked BEWARE....BEAR IN AREA.  It was a bit daunting, but I run there all the time so I decided not to attract trouble with fear.  In fact, I started to do one of my gratitude rants, and to revel in the peace I felt.  As I ran I give thanks for anything and everything I can think of.  Nature itself is a endless resource...

Transformation Formula

It's quantum physics, Transformation style.  What do I mean????  MOTIVATION + INSPIRATION + PERSPIRATION= TRANSFORMATION!!!!! In my experience with this challenge so far, using the mind (through motivation) the heart (through inspiration) and body (through perspiration) = a soul Transformation. MOTIVATION: Feeding the mind the right thoughts is as important as feeding the body the right food. The motivation is a mind thing, an...

The Other Side

A favorite song of mine is coming to mind as I read a lot of posts of fellow Transformers.  This song brought me so much insight and comfort, particularly at the beginning of my conscious journey, that I wanted to share it.  I don't have much to add.  The beautiful lyrics speak volumes.  I used it as a meditation in a way.  I just focused on the words, and let them move me.  Close your eyes, and list...

Happy Birthday Canada!!!

Today is Canada day.  Celebrating 141 years young. "Oh, Canada, my home and native land" I loved being about my city today--watching all the people out doing fun things to celebrate the holiday. The weather was absolutely glorious.....about 30 celcius (that's 86 F for my neighbours to the south)  I went on a long hike with my dog Phoebe and her pal Ruby, who I am dogsitting this long weekend....

Change= Doing it Differently

"IF YOU DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GOT." I've read a lot of posts on the site about sugar addiction.  I've been there.  Like any addiction, it lurks around, even after the pull seems to have gone.  I had a test last night with it. Over the years I managed my addiction to sugar as well as I could, given that I was still eating it here and there.  It's way harder with some in th...

Good to Great

What this Transformation means to me......First, I must say that I feel very fortunate to be at a stage with my life---physical, emotional, spiritual--that is good. Really, really good.  If it never got any better I could accept that and be genuinely grateful.  I am thrilled to get some control over my body through the practice of BFL and my physical and mental health have never been better.  I started to feel pretty comfortable wi...

Be Yourself, Just be Yourself

I love when I get a powerful reminder of something that is meaningful at my core.  It feels like a hug from God. Songs have been my touchstones of messages, healing and inspiration.  The right one is there to guide me through another lesson.  I believe songs are so powerful because we can listen with our heart.  In one of my darkest hours I connected with the song "Good Mother" by Jann Arden.  The hows and whys ...

Gratitude

I was feeling quite off yesterday.  I understand not everyday will be a 10...if it's going to be a 2 kind of day, then I aim to have the best 2-day I can have.  Quite a few people around me are having some form of struggle, and I have one of my own.  It's easy to get consumed and stuck.  I keep comparing all of these to the situation the Taylor family is dealing with this at present, and I am quickly humbled.  I am i...

22% Fat....78% Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!

I caught a good episode of Oprah today.  It featured two women who were part of a show "How to Look Good Naked."  It was amazing how their perception of their bodies started at a real negative point, and through some interesting processes over a few days progressed into self acceptance and embracing their beauty.  One woman made the important comment that she didn't want to pass on a negative self image to her daughter.&n...

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

One of my favorite quotes: "Dance as though no one is watching you, Love as though you've never been hurt, Sing as though no one can hear you, Live as though Heaven is on earth."  It has been my desire to learn how to live according to the philosophy in this quote.  It has meant learning to drop fear....fear of embarrassment, ....fear of rejection, ....fear of judgement, ....fear of failure....I have gratefully found moments, ...

Perspective is Everything

Yesterday I saw some wonderful examples of the power of perspective.  The most familiar example to most is the glass half full or empty, and it is a great illustration of a really key element of life.  What perspective are you seeing something from? My girls and I love to watch "Jon and Kate plus 8." It's a really feel good reality show.  It sure puts my parenting stresses in perspective!  They took a picnic outing f...
