LadyDi70's post
'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.'
A nurse took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. She saw him looking at his watch and decided, since she was not busy with another patient, she would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so she talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, she asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told her no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. The nurse inquired as to her health. He told her that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As they talked, the nurse asked if his wife would be upset if he was a bit late.
He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
The nurse was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?'
He smiled as he patted her hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'
The nurse had to hold back tears as he left. She had goose bumps on her arm and thought,'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'
True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is,
has been, will be, and will not be.
The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did.
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to
dance in the rain.

My wife's father has had Alzheimer's Disease for many years. I love making him laugh because for just for a quick moment, we connect and I believe he remembers us. It may be for only a second, but his smile says it all. Mark
INCREDIBLE POST - Thank you SO much for sharing it. Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain. - Can't help but think most especially of Jonnae & Denise - for they surely danced in the rain, and continue to do so.

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful story.
Thanks for posting this wonderful story! I had gotten by email a month or so ago and sent it on to a bunch of friends. The most important one was my husband. He is concerned that he may have some symptoms of dementia. I think it gave him a lot of comfort. May you be blessed!
A plaque with this quote was given to us when we were at our last hosptal stay with Jonnae before they said there was nothing else they could do for her. I believe we lived this way with her and that she was the one who led us. It is my prayer that we dance through all the storms in life and are able to show others how to as well. Thanks for sharing!
