I Am



I am a 36 yr old Seattle area married mother to four fabulous kids ages 12, 11, 9 and 7. I am a Christian, part time business owner, army veteran, and devoted friend.
I care about my family immensely, my health and theirs.
A focus of mine for years has been in providing the 6 of us with a well-balanced diet. Only recently have I begun to truly understand the importance of a well-balanced life.

I began running casually for exercise and emotional well-being a few years ago. Since doing so, I have completed 3 half marathons and 2 full marathons. Running has become much more than exercise. It is a time of reflection, devotion, gratitude, and fulfillment too and I love it! I hope to run a few more big races in 2012, and even encourage my children to run some 5Ks with me as well!

To me, Transformation Means

My personal transformation happens each day when I choose to let go of the things...big and small...that have the potential to weigh me down emotionally and wear me down physically...and instead, replace them with truth, peace, strength, love and service. Happiness doesn't have to be something that I am in pursuit of. I am my best when I choose to be a living symbol of it instead.

My Goals

Healthy Holiday Challenge 2012

Physical
Beginning weight: 138.6 lbs, LBM: 112.7 lbs, FM: 25.3 lbs, BF% 18.4%
By 1/1/2013 I will weigh 128 lbs and have a bf% of 16.4% or less.

I will achieve this by exercising 6 days per week; a minimum of 3 strength training and 3 cardio workouts of 45 minutes or more. I will eliminate coffee for the remainder of 2012 (was loading it with cream and sugar and drinking far more than is good for anyone), and will abstain from refined sugars 6 days per week. Being fit feels amazing!

MENTAL
I will prioritize my mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness by consciously choosing to live in a state of gratitude, awareness, peace, and simplicity. I will set aside time to meditate and journal 6 days per week {min 10 minutes each per day}. I will not entertain the idea of limiting beliefs. I will practice reaching out and asking for help when appropriate. I will exchange 1 hour of screen time per week with my kids for an hour outside tossing a football, kicking a soccer ball, shooting a basketball, or simply raking the leaves.

GIVING BACK

I recognize that I am my most authentic self when I am inspired by being thoughtful, generous, kind, or simply taking time to listen to others. I will seek out opportunities in my everyday life to give of myself in these ways. Additionally, I will spend a minimum of 2 hours each week volunteering in a local senior center and/or in my kids' schools. Finally, I will get the ball rolling with my kid-art greeting card project...a fundraiser for dystonia in honor of my nephew, Caleb.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I want to inspire my kids to DREAM BIG. I want them to learn to SET GOALS and to FOLLOW THROUGH based on my example. I want them to BELIEVE that THE SKY IS THE LIMIT...that LOVE feels GOOD...that
they are CAPABLE. I want them never to doubt that GOD has BIG PLANS for them, and that each day provides a new OPPORTUNITY to uncover GREAT things! I want to inspire YOU too!
