MSTATLER's Blog

Long time no blog...

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I made it about 4 weeks into work and then pooped out on the daily blogging!  I was maintaining until the last 4 weeks, which have been spent resting because I injured my Tensor Fascia Lata (TFL) muscle, from hip to knee.  I was right on track to run a 10k on Thanksgiving...  then I was in the middle of a morning run and all of a sudden my left leg, hip- knee, seized up and I had to hobble home a...

6 week pictures

I took pictures this morning to compare to my 'before' pic... I definitely see changes in my love handles, thighs, level my belly sticks out, and neck and face area.  I also have MUSCLES now when I flex! I've still only lost about 6 lbs, but feel like the inches and way I feel about myself are more important than what the scale says.  I am really proud of myself for sticking to it like this, because I haven't been able to stick to anyth...

PNP- Sunset Run 5k and Done with MA Classes!

My sisters-in-law and I ran our planned cross-country style 5k yesterday, and it was great!  I came in at 32:21 (or 22, maybe), just a little over 10 min/mile.  I kept a steady pace up the whole way except for up the killer hill- I had to walk a little towards the top, it was burning really badly in my calves.  This was a total goal for me... I used to be a big cross country, track, and marathon/street-race runner, but got injured,...

Sick!

So, I've had some kind of gastro-intestinal problem since Sunday night and haven't been able to keep anything in my stomach except for oatmeal, white rice, and plain pasta.  I tried to eat some chicken and man, that was a mistake. It's getting better- I'm not having as many stomach-stabbing pains and am actually feeling a little like I want to eat, and was able to almost sleep through the night.  It was really weird- as long a...

PNP- Debate Camp- Planning!

This weekend I am hosting a debate camp, run by Cal State Fullerton, for my varsity team and a few other high school students from the area. It's really small- about 20 students- and very intense, running from 9am-8pm Fri, Sat, and Sun.  They needed me to host it because I could do it in my classroom and avoid a bunch of red tape they would have to go through if they were to try to get rooms at CSUF; additionally, it being here means that mo...

PNP- Vegas!

I went to Vegas with my younger sister this weekend.  We arrived Sunday noon and came back to LA Monday 7pm.  We had a TOTAL blast- I think it was the best use of my free day so far :)  I brought all sorts of prepared snacks/etc, so my only real straying from EFL was dinner and drinks while we were out.  We ate at B&B Ristorante in the Venetian, Mario Batali's place- SO tasty and foody, and didn't gross me out the way my o...

No, No Baby!!! PNP, 8-8-08

My big piece of progress that I had today is a little strange, but I choose to see it as progress.  I went to get a pedicure before my sister's wedding (small, informal, middle of the day at the Korean Friendship Bell in San Pedro,CA) and the conversation went like this: nail lady said, "Hi! I haven't seen you in a long time!"  I replied," yeah, it's been about 4 months." She said, "And you had your baby! Lookin...

Assignment #7

Can you identify an “environmental change" which you’ve made so far which has helped you with your progress?  And can you identify another environmental change which you can make today which will further support your success?  One "environmental change" which I've made so far is being prepared. I never used to be, and it would hit me every time- if I didn't bring food with me, I'd be tempted by the wrong...

Assignment #6

Progress, Not PerfectionTransforming What You SeeSeriously, this could not have come at a better time.  I went into a tailspin on Saturday/Sunday- felt like I hit a wall and everything was so down, when the last 4 weeks had all ben full of wow every day.  I posted in the July 7th start date to see if anyone else felt that way, and if they had any solutions, and WOW!  It made me feel SO much better just to post, and then to get the ...

Timelines, Rewards, and Penalties: Transformation Lesson #5 and Updates

Bill's new lesson is signing up for the transformation challenge.  He asks: "What’s your timeline and deadline for achieving the results you’re aiming for in this phase of your transformation? What’s your reward and penalty"    So, I answer!1) What’s your timeline and deadline for achieving the results you’re aiming for in this phase of your transformation?  I have no specific ...

My Transformation Purpose

"So now here’s your assignment: Get a pen and piece of paper and write down your purpose for making the Transformation. Be clear and bold. Look beyond the body – into your heart and soul. Find your reasons that answer the question, “Why?” When you do, you’ll be taking another important step in your Transformation journey." My purpose in this journey is to become a better me.  I want to be happy ag...

Day 11- Made it through the Gauntlet!

I got back late last night (1:30 AM) from vacation in Virginia Beach with the in-laws for a family reunion- and I managed to only take 1 day off of working out and 1 free day for food (crabs and shrimp- yum!), so I stayed on BFL, against all the odds and ridiculously tempting Southern food! It was a house of 26 people, 20 of them being from Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, with the rest of us coming out from California. We shared food and ...

Measurements

Cindy, my sister-in-law, helped me take my measurements today.  I haven't seen a change on the scale but genuinely do feel thinner; this is a way to really check my progress, and not be tied to the dreaded weigh-in!  Chest: 36Ribs: 31Belly Button: 35Hips 38.5Thigh: 26 Let's see how it looks next Friday!  ...

Friday! 6 Days Strong!

So, it's been 6 days and I've done cardio, lifted, did pilates, and eaten according to BFL each day.  The only place where I've gotten a bit off is my # of meals... I just can't seem to get 6 meals in if I wake up later! The day goes by in such a flash that I don't have time to eat all the meals, or else I'd be eating every 1 1/2 hrs, and I am SO not that hungry.  I have become a master-wrapper, using ww tortillas and different ingredie...

Day 4- upper body strength

Wow. So, I did upper body workout, and man!  My triceps are shaking just balancing my arms writing this!  I did the BFL exercises with my free weights at home, so not much to graduate to in the form of lbs, but still did all the rep.  I also ran about 15 min around my block to get my heart rate up before the weights.  Now, food!...

End of Day 3- full and energized

So, I was up until 3 getting my paper done and didn't get hungry!  I woke up at 9:30 and actually still felt full, but had a myoplex shake at 10 anyway because I was on the go but breakfast is the most important meal of the day ;)  I actually got hungry again around 12, and started on my next meal; I had brought a cut up red bell pepper, almonds, and pita in little baggies to class.  I ripped into those suckers!  I did make su...

Official Day 2

I was a little sore today, but went running out at the Back Bay (Newport) with my sister-in-law, Cindy. We ran from Irvine to Jamboree and then did jog/hike back through the hilly trail area- man, I could feel my hamstrings and the abs that we worked at Pilates yesterday! It actually is a feel-good sore, though, not the kind where I don't want to move sore. My sunburn still hurts, especially up near my hips, but I put on a lot of after-sun loti...

Assignment #3

I anticipate that this will be the hardest assignment to stick to.  I mean, 30 min of exercise 6 days isn't that bothersome... but to eat 6 times a day?  I guess so.  Nate bought the myoplex shakes and we'll use those, but I hope that I don't get sick of them.  We'll see....
