My Dallas Experience

My Dallas Experience and Half Marathon   Before I left home, my kids had me drive them to school and get dropped off. My daughter said “Dad, just don’t hurt yourself”. When I ran in January during my visit with Carolyn in Arizona, and at the P.F. Chang’s Rock and Roll first ½ marathon of the year, my finish time was 2 hours and fifty-four minutes. I told both my son and daughter that my intention was to com...

Assignment # 4

The benefits of forgiveness are many and include improved heart health, brighter energy, and emotional well being and expanding spiritual awareness.   Forgiveness is a process of letting go of resentment or a grudge held against another person. "I forgive you,” means, "I release you." By releasing someone, we in turn are liberated from the mental, emotional and spiritual injury caused by our own pent-up negative ener...

Mark's EGO

I would like to thank Clarissa for helping me learn many things about myself. She wrote about egos which I added some thoughts to.   Ego has many emotions and addictions tied to it; anger, jealousy, fear, apathy, depression, anxiety, codependency, and pride. Of course, there are many more, but the list would be endless. With each of these emotions, there is a payoff.   What is a payoff? A high, a rush, an excitement (usually littl...

A Sunday Morning Poem :)

ANYWAYPeople are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years building, others could destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find ...

Being Altruistic...

Means helping others,   Or doing good deeds without focusing on a reward for yourself.   I have been asked by the local elementary school to be a guest reader and participate in their annual guest reader day event. The goal of the school is to place a reader in each classroom to share the love of reading with the students. Local government officials and community leaders have been selected and asked to share their...

The Day after Denver

What have I learned?    Let me first share what I wrote in my blog for part of my assignment # 1 of this last round… “I believe learning is making new connections. Remembering is maintaining those connections (like the one’s I have been making so far in this community). So I think there is a natural order in which we review something…in order to remember it.  The big challenge I have is that I have be...

Assignment # 11

I first signed on to Transformation.com...   on the day my Father passed away. I was a mess to say the least. Being to sole caretaker of my father who was dying of Cancer for four years was hard on him and me both. My bother, sister and mother all live far away. I happily realized it was my responsibility and honor to answer to my Dad’s every call. Upon his passing I found myself in the position of dealing w...

Assignment # 10

is my review:      T1: Know Thyself, Where Thy Stand and Where Thy is Going:   There seems to be a tendency for me to consistently move back to the past. I know that I do. I read some where that when we have a new experience, whatever that experience is…that experience allows circuits and connections in my brain to begin to originate thoughts. As those connections formulate, they release chemicals...

I believe!

Every day is so special...   In most discussions and analysis of American teenage life, one major topic is curiously overlooked: Beliefs. Yet I believe most American teens would say that faith is important in their lives. What is going on in the spiritual lives of American Teenagers? What do they actually believe? What practices do they engage in? Do they expect to remain loyal to the faith of their parents? Or are they abandoning trad...

Assignment # 9

Bill’s say’s …   “This Transformation Challenge is as much about a change of heart as anything else.” “Rather than competition, it’s about cooperation. Be careful not to limit yourself b...

I was in AWE.

My friend Max   I was on vacation away from my home when we first met in a hotel pool two years ago. He was five years old and I was fifty. We swished around in the water together and exchanged words, giggles, and expressions. Max and his parents went his way and I went with my family. Now it is two years later.   In my town this week we are having an “Understanding Autism Week”. There are many gatherings throghout the...

I miss early Fatherhood

When I was walking off the boat earlier, there was about 100 people trying to squeeze through one exit. There was a Mom with 2 small kids ahead of me and 80 people behind me when the one child not in mom's arms slipped and skinned his knee on the metal deck flooring. He was about 3-4 years old and started to cry. I looked ahead and the Mom had difficulty getting back past the people pushing their way off through the exit. I picked the boy up in m...
