My focus was challenged.
Bill say’s …
“Remarkable as it may seem, these two scientific studies are just a couple examples of the growing body of scientific work which substantiates that people who regularly participate in volunteer work, who have a service heart, and give their time and energy to helping others, are less prone to illness, depression, and they report a greater quality of life. They’re generally happier. And I contend they’re generally healthier from the inside out. And since that’s where we want to go, there’s an important lesson here. And that is, quite simply, that our well-being and our health cannot be a selfish endeavor. When it benefits the greater good – when it helps others as much or more than it helps ourselves – then we are making a change that makes a difference.”
I own a small Café and was just scolded today for not willing to help a fellow merchant. They own a bed and breakfast in town and had a deal with two other establishments to buy breakfast coupons at a discount. In return, they would send their customers to these places. Well for the first time for as long as I can remember, my café will be the only place open. It is a struggle to do so with steep costs in utilities and labor. I will be happy to break even during the winter months. We stay open so that our employees have a job and the locals have a safe and quality place to dine. There is not a lot of business (sales) to be had at all in the next couple of month’s. My focus in the way my café is being run has been challenged. I have been accused of not wanting to help him with his business and will suffer the consequences. There are many struggling businesses all around me, along with my own. I help when I can, and where ever I can. But it is always within my focus and perspective. Have I done enough? Have I done to little? My heart says to me to continue on the course I have set and that I am helping people. The majority of people in the town are happy with what I do here. But I cannot help to think about that someone who thinks poorly of me today. I do not like that feeling at all.

I see something you may not see. Your Heart :)
My wife and I have a couple employees and we have done some things at cost just to keep things going. "When it benefits the greater good" is a judgement call on your part. you know whas is right fro your business... Have a great week!
Just read this in the current book I'm reading and felt the nudge to share it with you. "The challenge is to surrender what you think to what you are intuitively told to do. This is not an easy task. You must overcome years of conditioning, the influences of your environment and the desire to be in control." Hope this provides some kind of insight or heightened consciousness to bring you peace.
is there a more cost efficient way to coordinate efforts between you? just cuz they did the whole coupon thing doesnt mean that is the only way... i did answer and delete..i seconded Denise's post...ASK and LISTEN...and then i added my schpeel above about rethinking the coordinating efforts of merchants
Let them tie on your apron for a day so they cab see your struggles too...Restaurants are tough to run.
If the restlessness persists, then I believe you have better to give. Not to be confused with guilt the enemy loves to use to hold you back. It can be difficult to discern what road you are to take here. Be prayerful in asking you inner voice if this is the best you can do. It will answer and it is then that you will find peace.
