The Longest Football Rivalry- 144th Game
It seemed it was just yesterday when I wrote a blog about how I was really worried that the football season is here. I was primarily concerned about the tailgates with all the food and beer and festivities that go with it. Well, this last Saturday marked the end of this years tailgating and yes it did leave its mark and affected my workouts a bit. My weight remained constant over the last couple months, but now I can refocus on achieving my goals.
The longest football rivalry is the Lehigh - Laffayette football game. This year marked the 144th meeting of this great football classic. I graduated from Lehigh in 79 and my daughter is in her second year there. This year it was an away game with Lafayette having a 7-4 record against Lehigh with a 4-7 record. Lehigh won being a 10 point underdog. Go Lehigh. In this rivalry the best team typically doesn't win, its anybody's game.
Anyway for this tailgate we deepfried 10 turkeys and I cut up 70% of them to feed the 100 or so tailgaters at our little party. The night before a group of us (4) prepared all the extra sidedishes and accoutraments. Stuffing, gravey, potatoes, deserts. People brought their own side dished as well. When you spend as much time as I did on your feet cutting turkeys in the 26 degree temperature you really don't eat much, and I didn't which is good. The game ended around 4 and I probably thawed out at 10:00.
Thi season is now over and we had some great memories and a lot of fun. The food and parties are now over for another 9 months. Seing people that drive a couple hours to be there is always great and will be missed. These are part of my life as well as yours I am sure. Make the best of them, try to control your food and beverage intake and everything will be ok.
Now it is time to get really serious about my eating habits and get into my game. I can do it!

I'm a San Diego Chargers fan and it looks like our season is about to wrap up as well...;-) ah well, always next year. GAME ON!!
