Two Weeks of not Working Out

I have been down with a really bad cold the last two weeks.  During this time I spent most of it laying around doing nothing trying to get better.  Yesterday I looked in the mirror and said I look like a pear or pear shaped.  The scale told me I didn't gain a pound even though it seemed like I ate like a pig over the last two weeks. A lot of soup and being home all day made the refrigerator really accessible. So by not working out in just two weeks it seemed my body had changed.  Yesterday I started lifting again and did an UBW just going through the movements with light, light weights.  Worked out for 50 minutes and worked out really nice.  When I was done I looked in the mirror and was pretty happy with what I saw.  Today the muscles hurt a bit, but that was expected and I am so glad I just did a light workout, just to be moving again was great.  This morning I got up and for my cardio I went for a 30 minute walk with my dog.  What bothered me was at 6:30 this morning it was dark out and as I finished it was just starting to get light out whereas 2 weeks ago by 6:30 it was light out.  The days are getting shorter and shorter, but in 2 weeks we turn the clocks back which will help.  Fall backwards spring forward is what they say. But I did work up a sweet which felt good and within a week I should hopefully be doing a hard cardio workout.

If I have a point it is that even though things aren't working out for you, you should be doing something beneficial for your body.  Even if you feel bad, just go for a walk - it will add up and help.  Not working out probably caused me to be a  little nutsy, mentally.  It is something how working out effects your mindset.  You feel so much more alive and robust when you workout and not working out has definite negative mental effects.

Anyway tomorrow will be LBW and I look forward to it.  I plan on doing 2 workouts of both Upper and Lower at a minimum intensity level, the 1 workout each at moderate intensity and work up to where I was and that should take 12 days.  I won't get crazy and this will reduce the chance of injury. Just one step at a time.
