She's No One To Mess With!
[This is a copy of a blog posted this morning on the body for life website--about a transformation team member, Denise Taylor. I hope you all enjoy it!]
Did you read that title and wonder who I was talking about? I hope so, because the answer may surprise you a bit. I am talking about Transformation champion Denise Taylor of Sellersburg Indiana. Getting to see her again at the Tennessee Champion’s weekend and getting a big hug from her was one of the highlights of my trip!
Why is she worthy of an entire blog? To put it bluntly, Denise is one strong lady, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And I would never, ever want to be between her and a goal that she was after with all her heart, because it would not be a safe place to be!
I first met Denise at the Knoxville Champions weekend last year. I’ve stayed in touch with her as much as possible from that time on, because she just plain inspires me. She has endured a loss that for most of us is hard to fathom, let alone go through. Her oldest daughter, Jonnae, went to be with her Heavenly Father from the effects of recurrent leukemia earlier this year. She and Denise together fought the good fight, and went far beyond that. During this time of their greatest needs, they did their best to stay cheerful, optimistic, faithful and enduring. And they did it, together. This kept the whole family together in prayerful hope as well. Through it all, Denise stayed with Jonnae at the hospital, and still dedicated the down time to keeping herself in absolutely top condition!
Though the outcome of the illness was and is sad, the way that Denise and Jonnae chose to face it down and refuse to succumb to bitterness, or depression, caught the attention of a lot of people. One of those people was Bill Phillips, and for very good purposes he honored Denise’s accomplishments and helped to brighten Jonnae’s situation at the same time. Denise is a genuine Transformation champion in every sense of the words.
You can see a video about the lives of Denise and Jonnae on the Transformation.com website that will tell you much more than I can describe. And, if you go to body for life or Transformation events, you will probably see Denise in person, and have a chance to hear her tell some part of her story. I’ve seen her talk three times now, and I can tell you that there is a spirit that fills the room and fills the hearts of those who hear.
In the end, you will be sure of several things. One, that Denise is every bit as strong as I’ve told you, and yet is humble and beautiful at the same moment. You’ll also be convinced that the message from her was one you needed to hear, and that God is certainly in charge of her life and the results of what she has to tell you. You will come away thinking that you ended up with some of her power, grace and strength. Yet, she still has it, so what you got came from the same source she gets it from—our Creator.
I asked Denise for permission to write about her, and when she wrote me to say it was o.k., she reminded me that she too needs to have her bulbs changed occasionally if she is to continue to be a light to the world. All I can tell you is that she lights up a room like no one else I’ve ever met. So, if you go to hear her talk some time, bring your sunglasses! And some Kleenex as well. You’ll need both.

Makes me wanna know her, you know?
Her story is what wrecked me...and made me hang on to the hard work over the last 18 weeks. Her strength and positivity and her absolute faith in God in light of her challenges and suffering really bring alot of meaning to my life. I am now a disciple of Denise's I GET TO message...and making disciples of my own now. i am learning to daily "spin" the negatives into positives and i am choosing to live my life from a different angle...one of strength and peace in the midst of life's challenges and sometimes seeming chaos. yah...her story needs to be told...and keep being told. (as long as there is a box of tissues around...and a sign up form for T.com Challenge)
That was a beautiful tribute. Thank You.
Hi Mike! Again, thank you so much for sharing Denise. Just knowing about her has made a difference in my life. I am so excited. I will be in her presence this weekend! And hopefully will have a chance to meet her face to face. Have a blessed day!
