Alpha and Omega

Alpha and Omega's are not just for Frat Boys and sorority girls.... When you see the title of this blog, do you think of words from The Bible when God said that He is the Alpha and the Omega?  He is the beginning  and the end?  Or perhaps you think of fraternities and sororities?  Alpha is the first letter of the Greek Alphabet and Omega is the last.  These letters are used as a metaphor for beginning and ending. Our physi...

Quote to print and post on your fridge!

"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind . . . let it be something good."  ---Author UnknownPowerful quote to support an amazing day!All the best!Rena&nbs...

On Becoming Great...

Okay now my little Einstein's....You are packed with potential. What comes of that potential is purely up to you. Will you settle for average and mediocre? Will you settle for less than you best or for just an OK life? You want more. You know you do. Is it a challenge to allow yourself to think a little bit bigger than you have been? Is it hard to entertain the idea of tomorrow being a pinch better than today? More fun? More restful? More fulfilli...

Red, White, Blue and YOU!

What you see here is the smile of an amazingly beautiful woman and the colors of an amazingly beautiful flag. Yesterday, December 17th, 2008, I had the honor of attending the naturalization ceremony of 636 people who came to the Convention Center in Washington DC to become American Citizens. The one above is a wonderful friend who now calls both Australia and America home. Can you see her joy? Some waited nearly ten years for the checks and paperw...

Chewing Gum in the Mirror

Here is a task for you... Chew Gum while looking in the mirror.Go ahead, I'll wait...........So how did you look? Gross right? Recently I was reviewing some videos that have not been watched for a bit. One in particular really made an impact and you can likely guess why. There I was chewing and talking, chewing an talking....I was disgusted by my own cow-like motions, so much so that I could not drink up the special memory that was supposed to h...

Transformation is for KIDS!

I look at this picture from not too long ago and I am Feeling amazed, grateful and blessed.  So much has changed in a seemingly sort span of years...My youngest of three is 12 today.  12 years ago I was pushing out a baby that I could never have known would bring so much joy. I found myself one pound shy of 200 pounds at 5 feet three inches because of my children.  I stayed at that weight too long--long after it was no longer a goo...

Trapped in my Car: Metaphor for Transformation

Today as I was on my way (second trip today) to the grocery store and my cell phone was bumped out of my cup holder and slid down between my seat and the console.  When I parked in the lot I felt around and couldn't get it.  I got out and leaned in from second row door.  Now, I have a big ole Navigator and so imagine this picture.  I am feeling under the driver seat and my wedding rings hook on some metal under the driver seat...

You know your getting older when...

I am sure you can finish that sentence with a whopper of a thought.  I remember in my 20's I would wake up and fly to the shower to start my day.  If I had a dent in my face from my pillow case it would often be gone before I even brushed my teeth.  BUT NOW,  at 42 (tomorrow it is officially 42 and a half), it could be 10 am and the traces of the dent could still be there!!!!!Last week I was putting on my mascara and realized ...

Diet Coke with that BIG MAC please.

Seriously.      We make steps in the right direction and then sabotage it with a big, hairy choice or connection that negates it.  it is not only about the "program".  We will painstakingly plan our food and workouts and then allow toxic people or events into our day.  It pains me to see this because those can be some of the most stealthy eroders of our health ...

Heads Up... Two months till NewYears! How are those resolutions coming?

How are those resolutions coming?Today I asked my kids to check on the goals they wrote for themselves on New Years Eve this past year.  We have two months to get them done as of today.  I was pretty pleased that each of them have come pretty close to nailing them all.  Thanks to Bill Phillips I finally learned the differnce between a dream and a goal and now can teach that to my kids. Dream: I will keep studying karate and do my b...

No Three Musketeers on my thighs!

I love these darn chocolate bars, they are so light and fluffy and .....   I had to follow up today.... Yesterday I asked for prayers in my blog to fight the candy fight on Halloween Night... I was 100 % serious and 100 % joking.I am happy to report that....The sun set...the doorbell rang....and rang...and rang.... the trick or treaters came and went....I watched CNN, still trying to figure out who I will vote for...more tri...

Please pray for me.....

Today is a scary day for sure...not because of skeletons and goblins but perhaps like you, I have a love for chocolate and three kids who are serious about trick or treating.... There will be a lot of temptation under our roof in just hours from now...I plan on carrying my before picture around in my pocket for strength...and I will sing my "original, never performed before in public" song below... My original Halloween Diddy to be sung...

Can't wait for Patience...

Dionysius said in the 4th century A.D. that patience is the greatest of all virtues. While it is not certain that it is the greatest, it sure is one of the toughest to reel in and master. We like to reap what we have sown as quickly as we can. We want our money to grow, our investments to multiply quickly, homes to appreciate on-the-fly and our 30 minutes on the treadmill to shave off pounds by the time the big event rolls around... Soren Keirkega...

10 things I learned in Tennessee

1.  If you are rolling down highway 81 with your top down feeling great and dozens of cars and trucks are HONKING AT YOU...before you get too full of yourself, look to see if the car behind you has a "HONK, WE JUST GOT MARRIED!" sign on it.2. Your old friends aligned in the Transformation Mission will soon be  joined by NEW friends simply by learning their names.  The TN BFL Planning Group did an amazing job at pullling a...

Feelng the Weight of the Wax in the fourth quarter

Today my Dad turns 85 years old.  He is fit and strong, mentally agile, active, loving, involved with church, his family, loves to cook and volunteer and has a subtle quick wit.  God Bless him. He told me, "Rena, I am beginning to feel the weight of the wax." (He was referring to the number of candles on the cake :+)  I told him, at 85, if he was JUST BEGINNING to feel the weight of the wax, he was doing pretty well! ...

Don't Make Me Come OVER THERE!

I just got back from Gold's.Nearly every step of my workout was shared (spacially) with a woman who appeared to be having an introductory personal training session with a competent lady trainer that I admire for her professionalism and example.Throughout the session I became saturated by the client's negativity toward herself... She spoke so ill of her parts, making fun of herself, belittling her strength, her "big butt", her flabby arm...

Great Video Clip! One Minute Shift!

The gifted spiritul teacher Wayne Dyer said, "It makes about as much sense to have a smoking section in a restaurant as it does to have a peeing section in a pool." I love that quote b/c it speaks to how we are effected by our environments. Thankfully when we surround ourselves with people who are positive, evolving and conscious, we catch the wave too-- which in turn encourages others!   All the best! :+) Rena  ...

True Character

What does it mean to have true character? It is shown in the everyday being of life.  The Taylor family has character. Julie Whitt = character.  Bill Phillips, Porter Freeman, my husband and my Dad, all men of character.  Some say that kids today are lacking in character, but I don't believe it for a moment.  Check out this You Tube video and see if you get the same confirmation that we are indeed in good hands if t...
