Day 2 - Ever seen a 6'2" 230.5 lb man run and scream like a little girl?
If you haven't, then you obviously weren't in the woods of Northern New Hampshire today. Because if you were, that's surely what you would've heard. Long story short: I stepped on one of those oh-so-hard-to see inground bee's nests. - What ensued next can only be described as "screaming idiot bee cardio". I definitely hit a high point as I ran away! Bill Phillips himself would've been proud. But alas, the bees fly faster than I run and are, much to my dismay, not dissuaded by expletive laden octaves eminating from my gaping pie hole! Not one to do anything in small fashion, I tallied up 7 nasty stings. Good times, Good times. I feel like the Michael Phelps of the woods taking the gold in the sting-olympics. So what have I learned? Nothing. I don't think there's any lesson there, just a funny story.
So...if I haven't bored you to sleep with my tales from the wood, here's what I really wanted to write about: Hitting 10's. The high point. If you haven't been able to hit a true 10, one where you can honestly say you can't do even one more rep, you're missing out on an a great experience. It's an incredible place. There is amazing satisfaction that comes from knowing you've pushed your body just as far as it can possibly go. It's tough, make no mistake about it. But it is sooo rewarding. If you've been unable to hit a 10, try starting with a slightly heavier weight. Make sure you're not resting more than a minute in between sets and taking no rest between the final set of twelves. Discipline is the key my friend. You can do it.
Some of my new friends have asked what kind of a workout I do. I do a modified BFL split. I say modified as there are two slight differences. 1) On my upper body day I do chest, shoulders, bi's and tris. "Lower" body day consists of back, quads, calves and abs 2) The other difference is that I incorporate jumping rope (I use a 9lb heavy rope) for one minute before and after my workout as well as in between each bodypart. As I mentioned in my lame bee story, I don't like to do anything small. I really enjoy the extra benefit of a raised heart rate and the added challenge that the heavy rope brings to the shoulders and arms.
I am by no means at all an expert but I just find that this works for me. If it works for you..great! If not, that's okay too.

Sorry about the Bee Stings but thank you so much for the laughter!! I am sitting here at work ordering lunch for the Analyst, they decided to go with Japanese today. Work perk, lunch is on the Boss everyday. Anyway, I am looking forward to hitting 10's. I hit about 8 yesterday with my upper body workout and feeling very sore. I am grateful for this site and have been enjoying it very much. It will be important part of my Journey. The guys I works with just don't get it?? Have a Great Day!!
How funny! Sounds like a situation I would find myself in (maybe that's why I stick to the gym). Sorry to hear about the bee stings. But keep up the good work-Bart
too funny...i am sorry though. (the Michael Phelps of the woods) haha
While your pain is not funny, your story sure is:) I wish you the best of luck with your transformation! Sounds like you are off to a great start! Cheryl
Funny real funny, I'm glad you are ok and laughing about it. You should be glad you are not alergic to bees. My wife works for an allergist. With that many bites, you may have been in big trouble.
You are really funny!!! I got a great visual...Sorry your pain brought me happiness...thats just kinda the way it goes! LOL!
Bee there drone that LOL
Ouch...hope that weightloss today made you feel better! ;)
Me walkig into spider webs is nothing compared to your bee story. Oh...but the 10s hurt. I do understand what you are saying though. Great post. Anita
