Day 79 - I wake up to the sound of music……Let it Be.
Bill’s exercise / lesson # 11 had a profound effect on the start of my day today, so I thought to write it down here.
Some background on me:
For many years, (all I can remember), I wake up with a song playing in my head.
I will then start singing it, changing the words, harmonizing with the tune, changing the notes from time to time or on most accounts, just going along with the original and sing or hum it as it was written.
My wife Annette generally will pick up on the tune and then have it stuck in her head. Sometimes that is good, and sometimes that is bad
(Bad for me that is, because she will blame me for getting her stuck on the tune for half the day).
Sometimes she pleads with me to change the song to something better to start the day with!!!!!
Well, this morning was no different for me.
I went to bed thinking about lesson 11 and woke this morning to a song I have not heard or sung since I was a young man.
I went over to the computer (like I usually do in the mornings as the cobwebs are still swimming around) and I downloaded the YouTube of the song:
For one, to see if it was out there ….and
Two: to hear if I had the words correct that I was hearing in my head.
As I explained to Annette “I’ve got to hear this song again, that I woke up singing in my mind”, she in turn says “Go Ahead” like she already knows that my daily ritual of getting on the computer has not changed.
What happened next is not what I was expecting……
I started the song and by the second verse, Annette comes over to me with tears in her eyes and others streaming down her face.
She asked me to find those lyrics for her so that she could make sure she was hearing them correctly.
After 5 years of friendship and then the last 27 years of marriage, (32 years total), I never knew that one song impacted us both the same (but individually) many years ago.
We both had considered suicide when we were going though our years of “trying to figure out adulthood” and this one song helped us both to consider different options.
It also fit how I understood Bill’s lesson # 11 today.
With that, I decided to include the link to the You Tube version with the lyrics attached in this blog for today.

When everything's dark - and nothing seems right - there's nothing to win and there's no need to fight' those words are so familiar - they are probably the only words I ever actually 'heard' in the song, I had never realised the depth of the song - just always sung that one sentence with power and passion that went deep inside. Thank you for sharing. - Love Light and Gratitude to both of you - Jaki :)
