Hey Tim! Thanks for the good words on my blog. We had fun and all did better than expected, even though it turned out to be rainy and cold. Jack is 8 and he finished in about 44:30, so we are very proud of him :) Have fun in Dallas. If it is anything like Denver it will be well worth the trip! ~Mark

I Am

I am a son, a brother, an uncle and a good friend. I turned 40 this year. At this stage in life I'm reflecting on the last 40 and expecting to make a transformation that will make me a better person in the next 40. I care about family and community. I want to be around to enjoy the people and places around me. I've been able to achieve success in other areas of life, so I do believe that there is something innate inside me that will enable me to overcome my current circumstances. I am...committed to transformation of body, mind and spirit in 2010.

My Favorite Charity

Make a Wish Foundation and Pujols Family Foundation

To me, Transformation Means

Transformation is a life makeover--reaching a higher state of consciousness about who I am as a person, what I value in life and how I can enrich the lives of others. It is a complete change of state.

My Goals

Long Term:

I will be true to myself and keep my commitments to myself and others.

I will be more compassionate in my relationships with others.

I will strive for a better life/work balance, and stop neglecting my health.

I will look back in two years and be half the man I used to be. Specifically, that is a weight loss goal of 182.2 lbs.

18 weeks:

I will improve my overall health by making a significant improvement to my blood glucose, triglicerides and cholesterol.

I will lose 64.5 lbs in 18 weeks. I will then be under 300 pounds for the first time in over 7 years. 299 is waiting for me.

My Intentions

I intend to re-engage spirtually, physically, mentally and emotionally. I intend to push myself daily to stay the course.

I intend to blog daily about my progress, any challenges or obstacles, and my successes.

I intend to be an inspiration to others, offering encouragement to those who are taking this journey of transformation with me.

I intend to focus not only on diet, but on getting the proper exercise, water and sleep to optimize fat loss and promote good health.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I visualize myself a couple of years down the road, and I want someone to click on my profile, as I have others, and see how this morbidly obsese guy was able to go from a whopping 364.4 pounds to a lean, muscular 182.2. I want them to say, "If that guy can do it, so can I."

I would also like to inspire members of my family who also struggle with weight. Through my example, I would like to provide encouragement that they can do whatever they put their minds to.

Finally, I would like to inspire people in my local community by starting a St. Louis transformation group that can meet and provide encouragement to one another (and perhaps hike sections of the Katy Trail
