Fermenting Assignment #4 – Batch didn’t turn out as expected

I had mixed feelings going into this assignment. On the one hand feeling I’ve already forgiven quite a large load of hurt, and on the other anxious about revealing more intense moments of my life. Sounds a bit contradictory, and therefore, confusing. I tend to play outside of the sandbox. J I’ve run through a whole gambit of emotions processing through A4. Honestly, I’m sweetly surprised at the utter peace, compassion, and uncon...

Dallas Lessons

I'm home safe, sound, sore, recharged, ready and EMPOWERED!!!! What a magical experience with so many beautiful souls! Some were confident, and some who were shy, reserved, and holding fear in eyes, but they overcame and were there, too. It was like a birthday party for everyone. Those just beginning their journey, and those celebrating their time along the path. Absolutely a beautiful experience. It will take me a few days to...

Wise men

(Rodin's - The Thinker)Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.Plato: Greek author & philosopher in Athens (427 BC - 347 BC) I've always liked this quote, but have never had it quite right so today I looked it up. It has helped me become aware of my own tongue at times. Do I have something valuable to contribute, or do I just have to comment for the sake of commenting? B...

~ 78 Hugs ~

1.     "We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth" - Virginia Satir, family therapist (My goodness, we are going to be unstoppable after Dallas!!!) 2.     "Being hugged is being connected" - Roxane Ann Lukas, Philosopher 3.     "You can't give a hug without getting a hug." ~Author Unknown 4...

"But My Anger is Justified"

Parenting TipFebruary 4, 2010 Some view their anger as justified because they are right and others are wrong. They believe that being right is the only ticket required to launch into an adult temper tantrum. But saying "He made me angry" implies that external events require emotional intensity. The dad who links the trigger (what "made" him angry) and response (what he does with his anger) too closely ends up believing th...

Bad Attitudes Come In Three Arenas

Passing along a parenting tip I receive once a week. This one was about taming a child's bad attitude and training them for productive adulthood.  Parenting TipFebruary 25, 2010 Bad Attitudes Come In Three Arenas A bad attitude is a challenge to family life and frustrates many a parent. Furthermore, if children don't learn how to deal with their attitude, they grow up to be adults with bad attitudes. One way to help children overco...

Assignment 3 - What happens when the habit is not obvious???

Assignment #3: Transcending Unhealthy HabitsHonestly, I have really struggled with this assignment! The old habits of yesterday, called out of the shadows are so obvious now in their guilt as a hindering habit, in hindsight. Addiction to food and depression, apathy, fear, negativity, pessimism, procrastination, this list could go on! So many unhealthy patterns of action have been conquered, or so it would appear. What is it now that is my lowest ...

Inner Peace ~~ Today, I forgive myself, and then, I move on . . .

"You can sit there forever, lamenting about how bad you've been, feeling guilty until you die, and not one tiny slice of that guilt will do anything to change anything in the past."But living this way can have everything to do with our future. Have any of you heard the phrase "you can feel bad if it makes you feel better?" I think they are even lyrics to a country song. I once practiced feeling bad on purpose. Although, I didn't know I was i...

Week 4 - Sneaky justification gremlins and free day hangovers

*****Free day******* Ahhhhhh .... Let me share a little of what it has been like over the last two years of the BFL/Transformation lifestyleAt first, for several weeks, free day was FREEDOM day! Cookies, pizza, ice cream, cereal (yes, carb overload) as much as I could get! Not because I was hungry, because I thought I wanted all this tasty forbidden delight. Then, Monday, as part of my scale addiction of course I had to survey the damage. Up 5 po...

Checking in

I headed off to the gym away from home last night for some much needed mommy renewal time. I am so grateful for the gym away from home, and the 2 hours I get to use for ME.Yesterday, was NOT a graceful day . . . at one point (3M - Mommy Meltdown Moment) I said "I quit!" Faith rebounded with "you can't quit. How are you going to quit?" I told her I would google it and find out. Well, that broke the tension. Paren...

Week 4 Day 2 - Time is FLYING!

I think week 4 starts today! My goodness can you all believe how quickly this challenge is progressing! How are you all doing? The family is back on the mend from two weeks of belly cooties!! YEAH! Thank you all for the get well notes and emails! Bugs take a while to run through the house and usually pick up some secondary crud along with it. In the meantime, mom gets really run down! I have been eating clean, actually surprised at how ...

How Does Writing Help Me?

The following is a post I made in T-central. I'm copying it here so I can keep track of it. To see the main thread, click HERE!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Penny ~ Thank you for bringing up the topic of expressing ourselves through writing. I, too, have found writing out everything from daily planning to feelings brings not only clarity, but also great peace of mind, and more recently, peace at heart. Topically, I'...

Another busy, interesting, and sad day - prayer request please

Again, another day in the life at the speed of childhood! Noah woke up in the middle of the night sick, vomiting, in our bed. YEAH! Of course, when our babies are sick, it sets the tone for the day. Faith had her doctor appointment to allergy test her blood early this morning. Noah was sick in the car as well. YEAH! I made the executive decision to skip my morning run in place of sleep, which turns out to be a good decision as my r...

Nothing too serious

Week 2 finishes on Tuesday - not sure how this worked out the way it did. I guess I just decided to pick a day and go with it! Last week is a blur with all that's going on. Each time I had penciled in for me to do an assignment was re-directed to another urgent matter and here I am Sunday PM with no assignments for the week. And it's beyond bed time. YEAH! I think I know my lowest level habit right now! Exercise was on target all last week. ...

Assignment 1

I reserve the right to edit as I grow! :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Three values for my life, which I hold deeply within my heart, are: 1) A deeply passionate respect for the delicate and precious gift of life; all life, beyond myself, expanding beyond the limited vision of our seeing eyes. I want this value to be reflected consistently and accurately in everything I do, in how I show up in the world. 2) ...

Week 1 - Days 6 and 7

Pinewood derby races were fun. Brandon won his den, but not the whole pack, and he's fine with how everything turned out. He 'worked' from 9-4, checking in cars, running cars, judging and passing out awards. Little guy was so wiped out at the end of the day he came home and went to bed for the rest of it.  The car I attempted to build was eliminated pretty quickly - I told it to come in last so another child's car&nb...

Week 1 Days 4-5 - Off to the Races

Wow, first day back in the gym Thursday was a kick! I'm feeling the happy pain of good work! Did a light walk/jog on the treadmill yesterday. Nutrition has been what our son planned for us this week, which extends until next Wednesday I believe. Faith, of course, wants her shot at planning the following week. He has done a pretty good job and I'm sure proud of him and his efforts.  I took a free meal last night to have the kids home mad...

Week 1 Day 3 - What are kids learning?

Thursday means busy out of the house day! Got up this morning later than I wanted to because I stayed up later than I should have which sets the tone for the rest of the day playing catch up! This affects me and I want to make a better effort at becoming consistent with my waking times. NO excuses. Meals have been good and no junk consumed thus far! Today's exercise is my first gym workout in a long time. I will do a total bod...
