Day 19 - Response-Ability
I was listening to Dr. Stephen Covey in my car today. He was talking about the first of his 7 Habits of Successful People: BE PROACTIVE. One of the points he made was that we have very little influence on society. We do have some...but it is very small. On the other hand, we have a HUGE influence over ourselves. If we're not happy with our lot in life, we have a great deal of control over changing it.
No where is this more true than with our weight. Just about every person reading this can take proactive action to be at a healthy weight. No one makes us put food in our mouths or keeps us from excersising. Granted, there are times when it is hard. WHen someone puts a slice of chocolate pie in front of us, it is very tempting to forget our new healthy eating habits. But, we have the built-in, God given abilty to choose our response to that stimulas. We can choose to take charge of our bodies. We can choose not to eat the pie. In some ways, this whole thing is no more complicated than that. Just make smart decisions that will lead you where you REALLY want to go.
It's called being responsible. In my experiance, it's something most people (including myself) tend to run from. Break that word apart and you get RESPONSE-ABILITY. In other words, each of us has the abilty to respond how we choose. It's free will...and it's from God.
I'm taking charge of my future by taking charge of my body, which here-to-fore has been out of control. I choose to eat healthy...I choose to excersise. I want to be thin, energized, confident, and a blessing to others. That's what this is about...it's not just controlling food intake...it's about being a blessing to others.
I hope you're having a great day.
Peace and Love.

I needed that reminder right now. I loved that book. In fact, I have put it back in my books to read pile, because I felt like I needed to re-read it and refresh myself on what it says. Your post just confirms my feeling of needing to go over his material again. Thanks
Good post Ted!
