WorkoutGuy's Signs of Progress: 7/4/2009
During Round 1, I initially posted 2 signs of progress every day. The physical changes were coming so fast that I could hardly keep up with the posting. Some days I had to post more than two.Now the physical transformation is much slower. I'm pretty much where I want to be, so my goals focus more around maintenance and continuing the inner transformation. I still need to work on losing that childhood baggage of having grown up obese. I still have some self body image issues to deal with, but there is progress! Progress worth celebrating. Oh yes, and there's the Half-Marathon goal to accomplish too.
I'll plan to post periodic updates to this assignment like I did in Round-1, but probably not everyday.

4) I bought some shorts at Walmart without even trying them on thinking that a size 32 would fit with no problem. I wore them for the first time yesterday and they practically fell off of my body. If I don’t use a belt, they fall down past my underwear. For kids these days, this might be stylish, but not well accepted when you’re 52 years old (young). I hope I can find the receipt, because I bought two other pairs of shorts.
3) I ran farther than I ever have in my life today. 9.0 miles (in 1 hour:51 minutes:15 seconds). Even better, I only walked for 5 minutes of it at the halfway point. I’m definitely on track for the Denver half-marathon!

1) I've gone running several times without a shirt on. It took me a long time to get past that fat kid image that is stuck in my brain, so taking my shirt off in public is a major accomplishment. This one is worth celebrating.
2) I still get an emotional charge out of helping others succeed in the transformation. I'm actually more focused on this during Round-2 than I was in Round-1. During Round-1 I put a lot of energy into my personal transformation. Now that I've entered into a maintenance phase, I have more time to devote to giving something back to the community. To that end, I've started a Mentor Group to assist others with the transformation. We're a small but lively group. Please feel free to join in! http://www.transformation.com/groups/WorkoutGuy-s-Mentor-Group/318
