Friday, Friday

Good Day fellow transformers:It's Friday, which means that this is the 5th straight day that I have made it to the gym!  Woohoo!!!!  It's the simple things in life which make me happy! Things are going well.  I did my assignment # 4 the other day, and plan on working on 5 & 6 over the weekend.  A cold front is coming through so it looks like the perfect opportunity to build a fire and snuggle up to a notebook for some...

Hump Day!

It's Wednesday, which means that this will be the third consecutive workout this week.  Yeah!!!  The week is off to a great start.  I have put in some cardio the past two days, and will lift my upper body this morning.  I am working out at a new gym this week.  I joined the YMCA that is about 8 miles away, only to find out that there is one about 4 miles away in the opposite direction.  So, I have been working out at...

Assignment # 4

Bill's assignment # 4 is to find our purpose, or what I like to term as the "Why"?  After all, that really is the question isn't it?  Why do I want to embark on a fitness journey?  Why do I want to get up early in the morning to exercise when I would rather be sleeping?  Why do I want to eat nutritious food in place of food that taste really good but is bad for me?  Why?To replace complaints with complement...

How Many Times Can One Start Over?

How many times can one start over?  As many as it takes! Why am I still here?  I stepped on the scale yesterday morning to see just how much damage I've been doing to my body in just a couple of weeks of poor eating and no exercise.  I find myself in almost the same position I was a year ago.  So in essence, everything I had worked for this past year is gone.  All that time spent on the cardio machines, all ...

Wonderful Wednesday

What a great day it is to be alive! It's mid week, otherwise known as hump day!  I'm waiting for the coffee to brew and then it's off to the gym for a kick butt cardio session!  This has been a really great week as far as nutrition, exercise, and mindset goes.  I'm just plugging along 1 day at a time.  I've hit most of my goals so far for the week.  Some I won't know about until Sunday!Hope everyone has a wonderful day!You...

Another Day

Good Morning:Today begins a new day, and a new opportunity to make great changes in my life.  I spent the better part of yesterday morning putting together a motivation board.  On it I have put my Mission Statement (see below), along with goals for this week, and goals for next week.  Also, I have my workout schedule for the next two weeks listed so I can mark them off.  I also set down and put together a daily planning sheet....

Good day Transformers:Well, it's Friday once again.  The weekend is finally here.  Tomorrow I am planning on doing something I've never done . . . going to watch my first fitness competition.  It's the NPC Red River Classic in Norman, OK.  I'm planning on going down in the morning and watching the pre-judging.  It should be fun.Well, I'm off here in a bit to go my cardio in the cold, cold, cold morning.  I don't have...

Mid Week Check Up

Good Morning Transformers:Just a little mid week check up here.  I've missed my workouts the past two days, due to my desire to sleep in over getting out of bed to workout.  Not this morning.  I made sure I got to bed at a reasonable hour, and set the alarm to get up and out of bed.  I will be heading off to the gym here in a bit to get in my cardio workout for the day!Yours in Metal Health,BrianMeal Plan:M1:  Myoplex Lit...

Monday, Monday

Good Morning Transformers:I've MUST figure out a way to deal with weekends.  I did so great last week with my nutrition, only to see it go down hill on the weekend.  I understand the concept of a free DAY, but this one was a free weekend.  I simply have to plan a bit better on the weekends, and then stick to that plan.Speaking of plans, I made my life a little easier yesterday.  I renewed my Sam's Club membership, and bought a...

No Brownies for Me!

Good Morning Transformers:Yesterday I was in a training seminar all day.  I had planned ahead and brought me a myoplex shake and a banana for the afternoon.  Well, in the afternoon the hotel where the training occurred put out trays and trays of big ol brownies.  I just walked right past them and to the room where the next training was to happen.  Now, I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in one of them, but I kept t...

Rain, Rain Go Away

Good Morning Transformers:Well I got up this morning at 2:30 am OMG!  Couldn't sleep, but finally forced myself back to bed at 4:00 am.  I had my alarm set for 5:00 to go lift this morning.  The alarm went off, and I woke up at 5:30 am! So, I didn't have time to go lift, so I thought well I will go for a run on the track by my house.  What's that sound?  Crud, it's pouring down rain!  I was just about to call it quit...

What a blessed day!

Yesterday I was able to hit all my meals, even the ones at work that are difficult to hit.  The only challenge was that M4 was a bit later than scheduled.  But Hey, it's progress not perfection, right!  This morning I'm off to do another day of cardio.  My hope is that my lower back won't start hurting again like it did yesterday morning.  I only got in 25 mins of jogging/walking, and was shooting for 45 mi...

Renewed Enthusiasm

Good Morning Transformers:It is Monday morning and another opportunity to make it a great week.  I don't know if you caught my weekly video blog from yesterday about the how food can become like a master in our lives.  This is the one area of my past challenges that haunts me the most.  I can do fine for a few days, and then drop off.  The basic reason I believe is that I don't have a strong enough reason for why I am doing th...

What happened this week?

Well I started a new job this week and it threw off my scheduling that I did have going on at the time.  I figured out by weeks end that I have got to figure out a new schedule for my nutrition, and especially water at work.  Let me explain a bit better - I started a new job this past week and due to the nature of the job getting to eat meals M2 and M4 are bit difficult, and  drinking lots of water as well.  It's not impossibl...

Another day, Another Opportunity

Good Morning Transformers:Well, yesterday did not go exactly as planned on my nutrition side.  The new job had going non-stop such that I totally missed my M2 and M4 meals.  Simply did not have time for them.  I may well have to end up having to make up my myoplex shakes ahead of time so that I can just grab one out of the fridge and drink it on the go.First day on the job was fun.  After being out the practice of law for the ...

Start of a New Day

Good morning fellow transformers:Today is the start of a new day.  Today I begin a new job, and have renewed enthusiasm towards my transformation.  For me it is easier to stay on task when I don't have a lot of idle time on my hands.  Guess that old adage about Satan and idle time is true to an extent.Anyway, I was watching the video's that DUDE put up, and drawing some ideas from that I decided that I wanted to start blogging dail...

Finally Fit @ 40 Round 2 - Day 13 (Morning Edition)

WHEW!!! Well my morning walk is over, but I didn't get my 3 miles I had originally planned. I put in 2.33 miles in 37:33. I incorporated some jogging into this workout but stopped due to sever pain in my lower left leg. I have to remember that the majority of cardio I have done in the past has been low to no impact on the machines at the gym, so it's going to take some time to get my legs use to the impact from jogging.  Still, I am pro...

Finally Fit @ 40 Round 2 - Day 11

How is everyone this morning.  Well I hope.  This morning I did a bit of different workout.  Instead of going to the gym to get on the treadmill or 3D elliptical, I put on my nike plus sensor and walked for an hour on the trail by my house.  I logged a little over 3 miles, and burned up over 600 calories.  During that time I listened to a podcast called Weight Loss and the Mind.  Here is the URL if your interested in...

FF@40 Round 2 - Day 8

What a great day I had yesterday.  If you look at my blog from yesterday I posted about the things that rob us of time.  For me it has been the time I spend on my computer rather than doing the things I would like to be doing, or simply enjoying life.  Anyway, yesterday I took my girls to National Park a little over an hour away and we went on a nature walk and did some sight seeing.  It was simply a great day spent with the t...

FF@40 Round 2 - Day 7

Good Sunday Morning to everyone.Well, it's the end of Week 1 and that means it's time to weight in and make a video for my video blog.  I will do the video a little later on as it is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma I plan on taking my girls out and enjoy the day! When I make my blogs, either written or video, what I try to accomplish is to look back at the week and see what I have learned.  For me I learned some valuable lessons this pa...

FF@40 Round 2 - Day 3

Good Morning.  It's about 4:30 am CST here in Oklahoma and I am sitting here drinking my first cup of Joe for the day, waiting for my gym to open up here in an hour.  I am looking forward to getting in the gym and doing some sweating!Well I had a team mate of mine on Tracker ask me yesterday what my goals were for this challenge.  I had written some back a few weeks ago, but just didn't seem to get on track at the time.  Now, ...

FF@40 Round 2 - Day 1

What an awesome 1st day it has been!  I made it to the gym for my UBWO, and did I get a rude awakening from my body.  It was nice enough to inform me that the amount of weights I could lift 6 weeks ago, yeah, it wasn't so interested in lifting that much now.  Quite the eye opener as to how quickly our bodies will lose strength when we are not pushing it constantly.  I made it through the workout, however I am going to have to ...

FF@40 Round 2 (Weekend before the start)

Well, I haven't posted a blog in a long time for alot of reasons.  1) I let life get in the way of my physical health, and fell off the wagon, and 2) really felt like I let not only myself down but alot of other people.  Now I can choose to live in the pity party, or I can choose not to.  I have made the decision to not live there anymore.  That is why I have decided to begin a new challenge, which I have entitled Finally Fit ...

Finally Fit @ 40 (Week 6 Day 6)

Well, it's the half way point on my Finally Fit @ 40 12-week challenge.  I must say the past two weeks have physically been a disappointment, but spiritually I have experienced alot of growth.  Going into week 5 (the few days prior to the cruise) my workouts and eating slacked off.  I don't really have a reason other than I put myself into this pre-cruise vacation type mentality.  Then on the cruise I enjoyed myself as far as ...

Finally Fit @ 40 (Week 4 Day 4)

Well, it's Thursday morning and I am recuperating from my trip to Hot Spring, AR yesterday.  I went down there and met up with my roommate on the cruise, a fella my the name of Jason Selmes from Sydney, Australia who is visiting a friend.   Anyway, yesterday we all went for an 8 mile hike through the Hot Springs National Park, and I was whooped, but I feel better about myself after having conquered that challenge!  An 8 mile i...

Finally Fit @ 40 - Week 3 Day 7

Well this is the end of Week 3, and is my official rest day.  I don't call it free day because I still keep my eating clean.  I finished up my video blog earlier this morning, and talked about the choices that we make, and how I made some bad choices this past week which cost me some progress.  However, I learned from the experience, so the week was a success in that aspect.I'm getting excited the closer we get to the Cruise. ...

FInally Fit @ 40 (Week 3 Day 1)

Well, it's Monday, and that can only mean one thing:  WEIGHTS!Today I had an awesome UBWO.  I haven't generally used the Smith Machine in the past, but I find it's very useful for some exercises.  For instance today on my shoulders I used the smith machine to do a close grip lift.  Basically lifting the weight from my waist up to mid chest level.  My shoulders were burning.  Overall it was a good workout.I do have a ...

FInally Fit @ 40 (Week 2 Day 6)

Well it's Saturday, which means that it's cardio day.  To be honest I've never been one to do the 20-minute solution.  Although I've tried I just never could get into HIIT.  I tend to do longer cardio say around . . . an hour.  However, I wouldn't exactly call my cardio low intensity.  I use a Polar F6 heart rate monitor and tend to keep my HR in the 80% and higher range of max HR for the majority of the time.  ...

FInally Fit @ 40 (Week 2 Day 5)

It seems to me that one of the hardest habits I have to break is that of wanting to weigh myself on a daily basis.  It's one of those things that utterly defies logic.  I know that using the scale as a tool of measurement is not a good choice, yet I find myself daily battling the desire to step up on this contraption.  To help myself I put the scale out of sight, and placed a sign over the toilet that reads, "Thou Shall Not We...

FInally Fit @ 40 (Week 2 Day 4)

Well this day started out awesome.  I don't weight myself until Sundays, so this morning I grabbed the myotape tape measurer (yeah like there was going to be a change).  I measured, "that can't be right", I measured again, same thing.  A 3rd time, a 4th time, same result.  Got an old fashion tape measurer, a 5th time same thing.  Down 1.5" around the gut.  Dropped from 48" to 46.5". ...

FInally Fit @ 40 (Week 2 Day 2)

Well today has been a pretty good day.  I went to the Dr. today for a 6 month follow up.  I took my CFL book with me to read while I waited.  The Dr. came in and noticed the book.  I showed it to him and he liked what he saw.  Stated that he would support me in my decision to get off meds and try healthy eating and exercise to get my triglycerides down.  Afterwards I went to the gym for killer cardio session.  A...
