Previewing the National Transformation Conference
Dear Friends,
On last night's Transformation Talk Radio show we had a lot of fun and answered a lot of questions from members of the community. On last night's show, one of the discussion topics which came up was our upcoming National Transformation Conference, which will be held in Oct. in Colorado. I've already received dozens of questions about that event today and so I'm posting a brief transcript of that part of last night's show. Complete details and sign up information will be posted on the site within 2 weeks!

"Folks, I want to share that we’ve got our national transformation meeting this October. We’re bringing in the existing and the new Champions from this round. We’re inviting in people from all over America and a few international transformation members are going to come in. It’s October 15, 16, 17 and 18.
"The Denver Marathon is our fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We're also going to have a 4.5 Mile race and a kid’s race on Saturday. We're going to have workshops and seminars all day Friday. We're going to have a gala, a get-together and a celebration Friday night. We're all going to get together for a big healthy dinner and a motivational event. We're going to give out our 2009 'Best Of' awards and there will be lots of fun, recognition and prizes. And everybody from all over the country is going to get to meet each other.
"We picked Denver because of it’s central location and it also has wonderful quality hotels for a good price. And a lot of airlines fly into Denver so we can get good fares and have easy travel to and from. We will be offering special deals on hotel rooms as we are blocking out a lot of rooms for the T group.
"We're going to have a fundraiser where each runner is going to be able to rally hometown friends, family, and T-friends to support them by pledging a small dollar amount for each mile you run, for example $5 per mile. We'll raise $60,000 to $100,000 for our cause at that event, which is the Make-A-Wish Foundation – making wishes come true for children between the ages of 2 and 18, and their families, who are experiencing a life-threatening illness. Last year we raised $33,000 through that event. A lot of people like Shane experienced their first big challenge as a newly healthy, fit person. It is an awesome confidence and team building experience! So much fun too!
"We are going to invite everybody from all over the country to come together. We hope to have hundreds of people there as this will do so much to motivate and inspire us individually and it will really strengthen our community. We will see a lot of media reporting the story which will help us get the good word out to many others which is always good too!"

This truly was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I can't wait for you to experience it! The energy, the love, and knowing the kids that will be so impacted and blessed by our efforts, is incredible. Get to training, get to raising funds, get to loving life and get ready for the one of most amazing times of your life!!! I am praying like crazy that God provides a way for me to attend this event! The hubby is out of work at the moment, but God is faithful and I'm praying for a miracle. The video was absolutely inspiring and amazing. I would love to do the 1/2 marathon with Team Transformation!!! I'm scheduling time off from work as a step of faith. Great idea Bill. I would be very interested to celebrate my 41st birthday (Oct. 16) as part of this great event. A chance to meet all my friends from this site would be a great way to finish off the best year of my life. Can't wait to hear more about the event. Hi Bill, I just reviewed the blog, I'm quite behind on listening to the radio shows, gotta do some catching up, my ipod shuffle went through the wash so I have not been able to download. The more I continued to read this the more psyched I became! I would love more than anything to attend this spectacular event! I just watched the video and it made me cry. I get so emotional over amazing great causes such as this and thinking that I can be a part of making a difference in such a "hands" on way makes me really want to train for a marathon and I haven't even participated in a 5K yet, but I've got my first 5K scheduled for 5-16-09. I will put Oct dates on my calendar and request the leave from work and start my "savings" jar today because at this point the only thing that would prevent me or rather the family from attending is being able to afford it. I will have to address the families interest too~I would not want to go without my husband for sure! I'd love for him to run by my side or be there to share in such an awesome opportunity doing workshops etc. If this does not work out for me or us this year then I'll try again for next or future opportunities, thank so much for presenting this and I WILL stay hopeful and always keep looking towards a brighter future! How can you not when you are a part of Transformation? I'm loving it all~Lori
I just watched the video!!! It brought back a flood of memories from my first marathon I ran as a member of Team in Training. I had raised $4,000 for the Leukemia Society in memory of my Dad, Freddie. That day changed my life. It was one of the best moments of my life. Watching all the T.com people cross that finish line was so emotional for me. I will try to come. I need to talk to my family but I'm pretty sure I can talk them into it!!!!! Hi Bill------As per Johnnie's (jlorren) message below we are excited and planning to be there. Yes, I'm planning to also run the half marathon----its been 33 years since my last (one and only) half marathon. The conference sounds great.-------Bob
HEY BILL AND TEAM: Bob (boblorren) and I (jlorren) WILL BE THERE!!! Bob is training for the half-marathon. He ran one in Indianapolis probably 20 years ago - and I LOVE how this has become an exciting goal for him!!!! These Tennessee hills are making a good training ground for "mile high" Denver! And yes, we'd LOVE to be involved in the whole conference. We're excited to hear about it all. And I'm personally planning to look a LOT different than I did when we had our picture taken with you at the Arizona Joe Polish seminar!!!! (Already do!) We both are dreaming and hoping someday to be a REAL part of your team - helping seniors like ourselves (and many others too) become so much more fit and healthy. Our lives have PURPOSE again! Hopefully the marathon doesn't fill up to fast so we can all take part and raise the money these kids need. I keep checking for more details. My Husband & I have the time off. Now it's just getting the money to get out there. Things are tight in this economy. I don't want to miss it though.

OH my gosh! this is so exciting! I really want to figure out a way to make this happen! I was just thinking about all of the people that i could get to try to contribute money for every mile i run. I actualy have a lot of support... Weird that i haven't really thought of it much like that in the past.. But my friends, and co-workers, and family members... they are all supportive in their own ways to what i am doing. I think that i used to feel like people would give me a hard time about being on strict diets... And i think in the past they may have actualy given me a hard time.. but kind of when it was due! LOL!! I have a lot more supporte in this community, and among the people that are right in front of me, than i ever realised!! Lol.. wow! I'm sure i could get some of those folks to contribute money to Make a wish.. Lol Who doesn't want to encourage their friend to get fit for a marathon... and donate to Make a wish! This will be so awesome!

I will definitely come to this. How many internationals do you want to have there? I'll fly over from New Zealand for this event 100%. I planned to visit the States this year and take the opportunity to meet some of the community personally. This would be the perfect way to do it! Phil

This past year has been the best of my life. I have only one regret in that time and that is that I didnt go to last years Denver marathon. I would not miss this for anything. Like The J Geils band said " I just cant wait"

Wow isn't it amazing! I will be there and my husband is coming with me. We are both going to do the 1/2 marathon - did I just say that? Hopefully by then my husband will have signed up for a transformation himself! Just living by example.

Wow my first marathon!
Since it's just about 26 weeks between now and the Denver M, I think that's an omen...and plenty of time to train! I think I started training today...5 miles on the treadmill?! What? We get cool blue shirts? Maybe another ultra artsy film by my Coach? What? Big ol' medals with a mountain design? Oh yeah! Seriously, a chance for me to meet Bill, Coach and so many of my mentors and thank them in person? I have to be there.
I would love to if it's in the financial cards for me.

I am so excited and can not wait for another transformation event. Being in Hawaii with the champions, Bill, Stoney and Clarissa was a life changing event. Being with members of the transformation community fills me with so much inspiration and happiness. I can' t wait to bond with members, learn much, and raise money for a wonderful cause. I am so fortunate and grateful to be part of this transfomation community and can't wait to make more wonderful memories. October can't come soon enough. I just ran my first 5k . My next goal is to run a 10k. Who knows - maybe I will be ready for the half marathon by October. Anything is possible...Ami

I agree with Chris, no brainer!! Bill, I will be there, most likely with my family. I will be joining the Power Walkers!! SO EXCITED!! I would love to participate and be involved in any way that is most helpful!! Helping less fortunate children, meeting wonderful people and having a good time!!

Bill, I just want to say that I have not run since I was a child. Due to a genetic dis-ease that makes my tendons over flexible, running in the past was painful. With my new health and strength, I am finally willing to run. It feels so GOOD!!! to be able to say that. I'm with you in the Denver Marathon. Shane told me something in Hawaii that I want to share here. He said he ran on the heartbeat, the energy and the rythm of the crowd. He kept his feet in tune with that rythm. He said it felt almost effortless. The spirit alive in the marathon, the heart, was pounding through his body that day and carried him to the finish line. I think I have a LOT to learn from Shane. Thanks Bill, for giving us each the opportunities to make dreams com true.... (((HUGS))) Debby
Sounds like an amazing weekend!! It's just one week before our annual TN Champs Weekend, which I'll be putting finishing touches on, so I won't be able to make it. I'll be there in spirit and will look forward to seeing all the pictures and hearing the amazing stories :)

What a powerful, moving video. I watched everyone cross the finish line with tears in my eyes. I can't imagine that I will be able to come to Denver during those dates but for everyone running please know that I support you 100%.

I just had to watch that video again this morning! The emotion in my heart from seeing all of you amazing people pushing to achieve your finishes and raising so much money for those wonderful kids, Deeply touches my soul. Thanks for this Great reminder of what this is all REALLY about for us. YEAH!!!!!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! WAHOOOOO!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO THERE ALREADY! I already blocked the days off on my calendar and will be there to participate. I just love reading everyone comments and how excited they are. One thing that surprised me last year was that its NOT about running. It is all about joy and happiness, making changes, being better and so many more positive things. This will be and become a LIFE CHANGING event for many people!
In my heart I have set the goal of running/walking the half marathon since the beginning of my transformation. I have SO far to go with my body. I am a couple of weeks from finishing my first 18 week transformation and need to keep going strong until October to even come close to reaching my goal. Reaching for this scares the heck out of me but I am choosing to do it anyway! I will be there.
I am planning to be there for the events and the 1/2 marathon and I think I'm bringing hubby with me. I am currently training for my 1st half marathon on May 16th raising money for missions. Provided I don't die:) on this 1st one, I should be all set to go for Denver. Thanks Bill! Devin

OKAY, I have a previous unbreakable engagement that weekend, BUT...seems to me that there IS a way for me to be involved. I am sure that it will become clear to me as time goes on. The energy will be flowing right out from there to the rest of us!

Yay! I will get to meet all of the most inspiring people on this site. I feel like I have a bit of an advantage, living in Denver and already used to the altitude. To think I might get to meet all the most inspiring people of this site, in October, makes me so motivated to run. Plus, I get the added benefit of helping the Make a Wish foundation. I don't know the details on how to start getting involved and start raising money, nor have I ever ran a Marathon or half for that matter. But I have a feeling we will get that info soon. :) Now I just need to get a better pair of running shoes. Any suggestions? I know there is a great place in Boulder.

I have been thinking about Denver for quite awhile...just tonight I was searching for 5K and 10K races locally. One of my goals this summer is to run in a race. Now reading this...it gives me goosebumps as another nudge to stretch my wings further and reach for bigger goals. Someway I will find a way to be there! :)
Listening to Bill announce how much money we had raised for the Make A Wish foundation last year was so rewarding. To know that by our efforts their dreams were coming true. Would not miss it for the world
This event was very powerful for me last year as I was in week 15 of Bill's 18 week challenge. I am not sure what got into me........well, actually I am! It's clear now that I felt a Devine calling to take on the half marathon. On my own, I booked the trip with only 5 weeks to train. This was very out of character for me. If I didn't have to travel for work, I didn't travel alone. I never liked doing anything on my own and always felt I needed someone there to take care of me. It seemed I suddenly had no fear and was making decisions quick and strong. I proudly sent out a blast email letting friends and family know how to donate to Make-A-Wish for my run - also very out of charecter. Make-A-Wish happens to be my favorite charity. I had experienced so much incredible growth in the journey that by the time I reached the finsh line it had became more than just the accomplishment of running the half marathon with only 5 weeks of training having never been a runner. It became a celebration of life. My life. The fact that I was "living" for what felt like the first time ever. I felt peace, comfort and love in my heart as I never had before. A new found "Happy" from the deepest inside there is. Last year I attended on my own not knowing that I would meet any other transformers much less Champions, Stoney, Clarissa and are you kidding...BIll!!!??? I thought if anything, maybe I would see the group from a distance. Little did I know I would have the opportunity to meet Shane and Marty who were key in helping me during my transformation and Stoney and Clarissa and other inspiring champs, Sharen, Denise, Joe and Mellie. Or that I would have the honor to shake hands with Bill Phillips and Thank him in person for doing what he does. This year I look forward to going back and re-living those memories in addition to creating new ones with the Champs and Transformation Team and also with our wonderful family of challengers. I hope to meet many of you. And how cool that we will be coming together to help Make-A-Wish grant children's wishes. Thank you Bill for making this possible for us all.
Scratch that idea Vikkie is afraid to fly. Looks like i'll have to take the Mustang it's only 1,188 miles I should be able to cover that in about ohhhh 17 or 18 hours But We WILL BE THERE!!! lol
If Clarissa is giving out hugs I'm there!! I had already registered after Bill said he would like me to be there on the radio show (Now thats positive pressure Bill!!) and am adding change to the piggy bank every week so I can have enough to fly out and back from Cincinnati. I am so excited about doing this event and helping the Make-A-Wish dreams come true along with my dreams coming true. Bill, Stoney, Clarissa and my Brothers and sisters in Transformation will make for a love in for the conference!! Where do I need to go for my invitation Bill I am so excited now I want to make sure I don't miss a thing!!
It's all about making wishes come true for the kids in the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I hope everyone will come so we can do our 1st priority and that is "It's All About The Kids." Next is we get to meet and bond and make this a T.com tradition. Hope to see you all there.~Love you~Coach

I'm going to start out walking pretty soon from my home in Mississippi to Denver. I should get there by the first of Oct. at my ideal weight, in shape, and in plenty of time to rest up for the big run!
i am already registered...and most of the family have expressed interest in coming to Denver...very excited!! indeed!
My goal is to save up to make it to this event! I have also starting running, and the plan is to get one 5k under my belt this summer. That will be part of my training to participate in the 5k at the very least. I'm excited!!! ~Maria

Love seeing this video...it brings back all motivation and energy we all felt that day! Love it! A Transformation Conference is such an amazing idea! I can't tell you how powerful it is to bring so many like minded-spirited and loving friends together all in one place! This will be a time that the whole community can share together!

I just started running 2 weeks ago. I'm old, I hurt and ache....But I'm in! I found some innner strength at this site...Might as well use it in Dever. I will require the use of a good massage therapist the day after...I hope I finish in one day hehehe

Oh yes! I am registered for the race and I have started fundraising already. I made a fundraising page so hopefully I can print it out and you can add it to the total raised by our group. I've told my friends that if they get my fundraising total up to 20,000 by September that I will switch races and run the FULL marathon! My injuries are clearing up as well as the New England weather! I am so pumped, I can hardly stand it!
