Building Momentum

I know I have not been on here lately.  I ran into some financial/family problems (which are still going on), but I am going to put myself first from now on! At least as far as my health goes. I am pretty disheartened because I have gained back all but ten of the thirty pounds I worked so hard ...

Hi I really enjoyed reading your profile and all the wonderful things you are involved with. I was considering becoming a O.T. a few years ago but didn't follow through. I am still wanting to be in the health field, I just haven't figured out what yet. Anyway, I left a post on your HHC blog because I can relate to your fears of a new challenge and posting pics. I also loved your goal of doing a marathon. But I am living proof you don't need to get through the first steps you mentioned to do it. Just read my blog from denver and you will see the power of community can do amazing things. So if you ever need any support I would be glad to help. Your transformation friend -Andrew

I Am

I am 22, I work with children with disabilities. I am studying to become an occupational therapist. What matters most to me is to always be striving to be the best version of myself I can be. I really enjoy helping others and making a difference in the children I work with lives'.

My Favorite Charity

To me, Transformation Means

To me it means to try. To take a stand and just try. If you fail just try again but you can never fail if you don't try. And also to change who you are. To do things you've never done before. If you think of an activity to do and think to yourself "that's just not me, that's not the kind of thing I would do" Then I try to make it a point to do it. Never hold yourself back. Never limit yourself.

My Goals

1.I hope to make an impression on my parents. They have both been obese for almost all of my life. I would love to see them want to change themselves.
2. To feel better. I want to be able to just get up and go, I don't know any other 22 year old who NEEDS coffee in the morning just to wake up.
3. To look better. I have never been a self-consious person but I know I don't look like a 22 year old should.
4. To run a marathon. This is the last goal because I know if I achieve the first 3 then this one should follow.

My Intentions

I Just want to be healthy enough so I don't have to worry about my toes falling off when I turn 30 (both of my parents have type 2 diabetes) and my heart giving out when I am 40. I don't want my future children to wonder (like I often do about my parents) if I am going to be there for them on their wedding day, or any other important milestone.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I would like to inspire my parents to lose weight and also young girls. I have suffered from an eating disorder in the past and I want to be able to show young girls and boys that there is a better way, a healthy way, and they can accomplish it. that losing weight is not worth your life. And that there is a life outside weight loss and the vicious cycle and pain that an eating disorder brings.
