This has been a pretty good week. I helped motivate our office staff for a little fitness challenge of our own. Everyone has been talking about their New Year's resolutions and so I offered up this site and the assignments along with an overall weight loss goal. Everyone is really excited about trying to lose the most weight; but so far I have not had that much success in getting people convinced that's not the only real ob...
Went to the gym for a 5 miler this morning. There's an indoor track and I'm able to just turn on the tunes and go. It's not quite as monotonous as the treadmill (aka hamster wheel) and it feels good to keep moving. There are a lot of windows at the gym and on a sunny day you can almost imagine yourself outside. The only difference is that it's always a nice 70F even when it's only 10F outside. I missed a couple of run...
Been a crazy week getting back in the groove at the office following the holidays. Everyone seems to be a good mood and ready to start it all over again. I was able to get all my meals according to plan for Monday and Tuesday but found myself with the munchies last night and struggle to pull myself away. Wasn't going for the chocolate or anything like that, but kept picking away at some fruits and stuff in the fridge.Did a chest...
Crazy day yesterday so I wasn't able to jump on. Been bouncing in and out of work this week for the holidays and didn't get a work out or run in yesterday. Ducked out of the office shortly after lunch, or int the T-com world we say Meal 3.....and went for a 4 miler at the gym. I was able to find a local gym with a nice indoor track so that's were I'll spend some time until Spring. It's been 25 degrees or less all week and t...
Got out of bed and to the gym this morning for my first training run. Did a tick over 3 miles on the treadmill. I dipise the treadmill, but when it's 18F outside at 5a,m, you don't have much choice. In summer months, I love to get up birght and early and get outside for a run but this is just bitter cold. I know of an indoor track that's a little further away than my normal gym so I am going to look into that one. I h...
I am registered for the Memorial Marathon in OKC, OK on May 1st. The 18 week training program starts today. The first day of any running program is always kind of a misnomer since you don't "DO" anything. For me, the first real run is not until tomorrow so I worked out with weights and did 30 minutes on the elliptical instead of hitting the streets. Three huge challenges for me this time are:1.&nb...
Talk about positive pressure. A few days ago I got a text message from Marty Goldman asking if he could join us at our home for a couple nights while in town for a "Get-Together" at Eric Simpson's house. I've always been a believer in the power of telepathy but this one stretched over 200 miles. You see, I was a pretty avid T-commer for most of 2009 but I have drifted away for the last 6-8 months or so. Lately tho...
Looking forward to an awesome day as everyone gears up for tonights big game. It was only 2 years ago we watched our own hometown hero Gordon Hayward take an inbound pass with 3 seconds left and shoot the winning shot to bring the state championship back to Brownsburg. Now, he along with a cast of disciplined athletes are 12 hours away from making history and bringing that Hoosiers story alive once again. Here's the link to ...
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Good Friday. I started the morning with a very nice workout and followed it up with a trip down to Gasoline Alley with my oldest son. I took him down to Luczo-Dragon Racing and set him up with a private tour of the race shop (sorry no photo's). He was able to see the cars up-close and meet the mechanics and also Davey Hamilton who drives the 21 car doe deFarren Motorsports. Pretty cool m...
It's been quite a while since my last post...5 months or so. It started off as a little break for the holidays and then next thing you know you're completely unplugged. I have never really been one for consistent correspondence (limiting belief maybe), but I always have the best intentions. Since my disappearing act I have been able to stay healthy and continue working out and eating right. The workouts have always been con...
OK folks, here it is. Just finished running the first annual BROWNSBURG INDIANA HHC HALF MARATHON. All proceedsw to benefit Calvary United methodist Church and the Unified Giving Goal Can Drive. Below are some of the pictures from this mornings event. It was a blast. The history behind this event......I was going to run the Indianapolis marathon this morning but decided to wave off at the last second and run my own race. I will now take that $80 e...
Today's message started with a quote. Not exactly sure where it came from but it sure rings true. "Faith is the ability to believe the things we cannot see and to see the things we believe." I think everyone in this community can relate to this one. Think about where you were before you started this community. Think about your first assignment. I think that Faith is definitely one of the many things we ...
Time to get back in to the swing of Transformation. Since Denver I have sat back and relaxed a little. I was able to go and hang with Marty and Rohan for a day in Chicago before closing the door on one of the most magnificent vacations of my life. My nutrition has been a little dicey since the Half Marathon on Sunday but I have kept my portions in line. I just chaulked it up as a little "Break" before diving back ...
All I can say is WOW. This year will definitely be one to remember. For me there are many individual moments in my life that are remarkable or even historic but looking back at this entire past year really let’s me realize how special life is. Looking back at my before picture and really looking into that person’s eyes I see a lost soul with no real purpose. I praise GOD that he was able to show me the path to ...
Posted on 1-5-09: I am 36 year old, goal oriented, hard working person, but unfortunately very selfish and married to my job. I have a loving wife and 2 great kids (one more on the way due in April). 2009 is the year I realign my priorities and put my family ahead of everything. I have spent the last 5 years putting my work first and have missed so many things along the way. I have worked my tail off to achieve my professional goals and sacr...
Can't believe that it has been a month since I blogged last. I have been able to stay plugged in to the community for the most part though. I have completed my second challenge but haven't even slowed down enough to post my final pic's. Overall I lost an additional 20 pounds which was more than I had expected for the second round. I guess all that running really burned some fat. I started my second round at 205 lbs an...
It's official - Football season is underway in Stillwater....... No. 9 Okla State Cowboys defeated No.13 Georgia today to start off the season the right way. Gonna be a great season................... GO POKES!!!!...
Well it's Day 111 into my second challenge and it's been about 2.5 weeks since my last check in. Things have been very hectic around the casa lately and work has been very demanding. I have been working around 12 hours per day and once I get home and workout, help prepare dinner and hang with my family, it's usually about time to crash. I haven't had much T-com time lately and I can really feel the void. I was able to ...
Did 12 miles this afternoon. A little cold front moved through yesterday so we had a georgeous 73 degrees with a little wind. Everything felt great. I am a little wobbly right now though and a little sore, but it is so nice to continue to climb the ladder. Run: 11.95 milesTime: 01:51:57Pace: 9:28 min/mile I had a few rough moments this week regarding nutrition. I've found that with all this running, if I don't get enough carbs thr...
No more to report today other than the workouts were fantastic and the meals were on plan. Hopped on the scale this morning and found that I am about 10 lbs lighter than my starting weight for round 2. Down to 194 and feeling pretty good. The changes that your body undergo while running on a regular basis are amazing. I will admit that I am ready to get the Marathon behind me so that I can go back to strength training and ...
