Ankle is HEALED! Now for the finger...
Today was the day I went in for my check-up for my foot. The bone is almost completely healed! The doctor has given me the green light to lose the frankenboot and begin working out again (walking, etc...) without restriction. He did tell me that my ankle/calf muscle are going to be sore & tight for awhile so I can still use the franken-boot when I feel I need it.
Now...as for my finger...it's not so simple. After further review of my x-rays, he has determined that I bent the bone. This was news to me...I didn't know you COULD bend a bone - but there you have it. I bent the bone and stretched the ligaments. Now they are stiff and not loose enough to get full range of motion without pain. So, I'm going in for some PT (physical therapy). He says they will try doing some ultra-sound on the ligaments to try to loosen them up. If this doesn't work...it's microscopic surgery on my finger. He said my finger will probably never be 100% straight again...I'll have to live with a cook...no biggie as long as I have full range of motion again!
So...while I'm able to start cardio again (slowly mind you), UBWO weight work is out as I absolutely cannot grip ANYTHING (including phones or keys) in my right hand. Writing has become really interesting :) Typing? Typing is probably the only thing that's not affected too much other than the buddy-taping of my pinky & ring finger.
And there you have it. Tomorrow morning I'm getting up early (TAKING THE CELLPHONE) and taking a walk.

Hi ya Toots! Haven't been on the site much latey so am just catching up. It's interesting how the body can get in the way of doing what we want to do, huh? Being able to get out and walk always helps my mind-set - thank goodness for the Okey-dok from the doc on that one. Hang in there, give yourself time to heal and keep thinking about your goal.
