I'll really like the "Promise Yourself" quote.
A man named Shad Helmsteder wrote a book regarding affirmations...but i
can't recall the title..
He had a lot of examples of what he called "self talk"..
A few of them that i use often are:
I choose to be happy now..
I choose to be calm and confident now..
I choose to forgive myself and everybody else.
I have come across a lot of affirmations from people in the gym before
doing a set.
One African American workout partner long ago had quite a bit of
self talk before a set and raised his fist re: Black Power. By the way he
was the strongest man..lb for lb in the NFL and fastest in the 40 yard dash.
This was 6 ft 8 inch Cullen Bryant from the "LA Rams". One thing that was
amazing about Cullen also is he went to law school after football.
My 2 cents is when you meet folks who you admire for some reason..ask for a moment of thier time..and "what works for them" Very often i come across
folks that do some self talk or affirmations..
