Mindy- Way to get your run in on the treadmill. I'm not a fan of running on one either. On the other hand, it sure feels rewarding once done! Hanna's brought up a great point. As I know you already know, menu planning makes such a helpful difference when shopping, preparing, and eating food. Please gift yourself that...it'll pay off all week long

Having a houseful of kids is just about the greatest blessing on earth. Ironic how stressful it can be too, isn't it! Again...over time, I've found that planning coupled with constant gratitude is the magic formula for shifting my stress into harmony. Years ago, I'd make BFL-like meals for myself and then completely different meals for my family. In recent years I've transformed all of our nutrition. We always eat the same thing together (almost always anyway....there are times when I'll make myself a special omelet or my family a special treat). Healthy meals aren't always well-received by my littles, but I've got to let it roll off my shoulder. I'd rather send them to bed having had the option of filling up on healthy eats (even if they've only had a few bites), than slaving over a meal that I don't want to enjoy and that's not so great for them anyway. Sitting down as a family at the dinner table, sharing the same healthy meal...such a great opportunity to build stronger bonds and set positive examples.
It's hard to communicate through writing sometimes. I hope you see that I'm not criticizing you...just offering tips that I've picked up along the way. It's not selfish to make yourself a priority in your own home.....certainly not cruel for you to want your littles to follow your lead either.
With that said, glad to know that you're feeling better about the nutrition you're choosing for yourself and are seeing/feeling the results!!
Hanna- You're SO amazing!!! Can't express how much I admire your determination when it comes to getting your workouts done. You have become a no excuses kind of girl. You're positively right...exercise is the best drug ever!
Julie- Congrats on completing your challenge. So proud of you! The pull-up....YOU DID IT!!!

I'm so happy!!! Very excited about seeing that video too...how fun! I'm sorry to learn about the stress you've got in regards to your job. Not worried though. You're such a positive and talented woman. Everything will be ok

I had such a wonderful afternoon with my kids!!! Another gorgeous day here in the PNW so we decided to go visit the Farmer's Market by the waterfront in the town we live. Evan and Linnea, my 11 and 12 yr olds wanted to team up and walk around on their own for a little bit. They were hungry, so I gave them some $ and sent them on their way with instructions to meet up an hour from them. My only request was that they choose something healthy to eat before buying any treats. I must admit, I never expected them to really do that. Afterall, I had just cut them loose with a handful of cash. They could have drown in ice cream and cupcakes...kettle corn and hot dogs...fried dough and cotton candy.
Imagine how elated I was when I bumped into them before the hour was up to find this!!!
You can tell from the image that Evan wasn't particularly fond of me taking his pic. Oh well...love it and love them both! BTW...they did each end up with their share of
garbage, but kept it in moderation. I'm proud of them!
I had strong workouts M-Thursday of this week. Didn't make time to workout yesterday or today. Had a difficult night Thursday and didn't sleep well as a result. Life is too short to carry the stresses I choose to hold onto. Must.figure.this.out! Thankful I've got you guys who inspire me to dig deeper each day. You're tremendous!!
I'm looking forward to a very positive and fun day tomorrow. Wishing you the same!
