Shane ~ I found this on About.com
:
Index: Top 10 Most Effective Ab Exercises
  1. 1. Bicycle Exercise
  2. 2. Captain's Chair
  3. 3. Exercise Ball Crunch
  4. 4. Vertical Leg Crunch
  5. 5. Torso Track
  6. 6. Long Arm Crunch
  7. 7. Reverse Crunch
  8. 8. Full Vertical Crunch
  9. 9. Ab Rocker
  10. 10. Plank on Elbows and Toes
Shawn P. talks about focusing in on the muscles you are working to really fire them up and get them working, not just going through the motion. Still takes time to shed the upper layers of insulation. I personally like doing crunches and push outs on the Swiss ball. OH YA!! I like the challenge of trying not to look like a dork when I fall off of the thing! ~Sharen~

Decline Abbs crunch with enough decline and plenty of weight under chin. Make sure you crunch the abbs and not lift too much on the hips. Try to hold each rep for say 3 seconds or more. Same on the Swiss Ball except hyperextend back as far as you can to activate some more muscles.Do it BFL Style 12,10,8,6,12,12 Reverse crunch for the last 12

Hi groupies!! I'm a member of this group and I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Thanks for the list of ab exercises, lifeizgood! I'll check those out later tonight!

I like to do pilates for my abs/core. I have too much fat covering my abs still for any muscle to pop out. When I get thinner I may need to build those muscles more with other exercises other than pilates but for now pilates has been making the inches disappear for me.

Thanks for that link, Sharen. I'll try some of those this evening.
Any tips on fat burning while we're doing all of this ab crunching? Does that 'hydroxycut' stuff work?
I was thinking of getting some for a 'jump start'.

You all want the burn???

I've seen these called ball push outs, reverse ball crunch, and knee tucks. You are in push-up position, with feet/ankles on top of a stability ball. First, you'll want to maintain this position until you are stable - works the core big time! When you are ready, roll the ball towards your hands with your feet, squeezing your abs.

Let me know how it goes!!

Eat clean, drink lots of H2O, push those 10's, get the HIIT cardio done and tell yourself you're burning the fat! (I know, not what you wanted to hear, right?!)

Secret Ab Workout!

I saw all these posts about ab workouts, but one way to get a secret ab workout out is this: No matter what exercise you are doing, be it upper or lower body- engage your abs. Jackie Warner of the TV show "Workout" says she doesn't even do an ab workout! Now I'm not saying you shouldn't do an abs workout, but this will make a marked difference in your core strength. I mean, have you checked out her abs?! Crazy! Try it and tell me what you think.

For anyone interested, go to an actual boxing gym.

Get one session from a professional boxer on just ab work. It is intense!

Right you are, and that's what I'm doing plus I've got a trainer putting me through two 30 minute abs workouts a week and I can already see a little difference. I'm still a little sore, but it's working and as they say in sports, "If you're winning the game, you don't feel the pain".
The one that's torturing me the most is one that I think they call incline reverse crunches (or something like that). But it's all for good! Thanks again.

Sorry guys - I've been a member of the group, but haven't started actively posting on Transformation until this week. I just started my challenge on Sunday. Great advice here, so far! Looking forward to getting to know my teammies committed to finding the fountain of abs!

Here's a great AB exercise I have recently been doing:

Lie on your back and with your hands reached above your head and grab the leg of a heavy piece of workout equipment or furniture. (I use the leg of my bed)

Lift your legs up so they go straight up over your head. Slowly bring back down towards floor but don't rest them on the floor....do a slow count to five...raise back up...repeat...and repeat.... for all your sets....great AB burn. First time I did these I could really feel my abs the next day! I'm sure there is a name for the exercise but I don't remember it. I read about it a few weeks ago and started doing it for my AB workouts and really like it. Thought I'd share!

I like Shawn P. Absolution routines.......Ab BootCamp is a favorite of mine as well (it can still be found at musclemedia.com/training/BootCamp.asp)......The swiss ball (under your lower back while lying back holding onto a sturdy bench {or a hand rail secured to the wall like I have} doing leg lifts) is killer!!!!.......I love doing ab work......My new 'Total Gym' allows for core work throughout my regular workout......None the less, keep at it. You will learn to love ab work!....{Yeah, RIGHT!} ~ Pete
