This is getting to be a habit...

Hi gang!

This is from my blog about my 42-mile ride Saturday...

(9-7-08) This is getting to be a habit...

On Saturday, I did my "usual" long bike ride...42 miles this time. It's been a long time since this was part of my normal routine. For this week, I rode a total of 94 miles on the bike. Wow! That's great! Since being told Aug. 20 that the pituitary disorder had been reversed, I haven't had a single episode of the profound fatigue that has been so common over the years. What can I say...I'm starting to believe that the chronic illness is truly a thing of the past... I carried my video camera on the bike on my ride Saturday along the San Diego coastline. I made a short music video from the footage and added a few touches to hopefully make it somewhat inspiring...

Click on the link to play it from YouTube (or it's in the Videos section here)

Awesome Jim. 42 miles is a long haul and quite impressive to say the least.I hope to get there soon. Thank goodness I have been doing spin classes for a year at the Y. That has paid off huge for me.

Jim,

That is great! I am going to be in San Diego the week of October 12th for a convention. I look forward to seeing some of that coast line in your video. Thanks for sharing!

I am impressed! I believe your commitment has something to do with your disorder disappearing?

WOOHOO!!!! Congratulations!!! However, I should point out the speed limits 35 & 50--you were going TOO Fast! if you don't slow down, you may be pulled over and given a speeding ticket . How do you ride and record? Gees, I'm only talented enough to ride, I take a camelback so that I don't have to lean over to grab a water bottle (my balance is sensitive). TOO RAD! TOO COOL! I enjoyed it . I'm glad you enjoyed the ride . HAVE FUN! .

Thanks Troy! Yeah, I'm pretty jazzed to be getting in the miles. May have to back off for a week and then get back to increasing them.

Those spin classes are tough! No doubt that'll get you ready to get out on the road.

Hi Tom! Yeah, I actually went to the harbor area a few weeks ago to get some video for my family but it was overcast! I'll try again before too long. That same weekend I'll be Tennessee for the BFL event.

Thanks!

Actually, my commitment has been there all along, however my ability to follow through consistently is better than it has been in years! I have other health concerns but with the pituitary disorder out of the way, I expect I'll be back to 100-150 miles a week on the bike which was what I was doing in 1994 and 1995. Just gotta continue to get the weight down so my knee and back issues don't get in the way!

Thanks Chrisdee! You're a hoot! Yeah, I'm pretty fast on the bike alright! Well, at least going downhill!!! I actually hold the camera in my right hand and hold the handlebars in my left. As such, it wasn't safe to film going downhill or any section where I needed to work the brakes. Since I have to concentrate on riding the bike I can't look too closely at the camera's LCD - I just have to point the camera and hope the video comes out framed and level.
