I used to ride a Gary Fisher mountain bike. I now have a Motobecane mountain bike. I've had it for a few years and love it. I have put quite a few miles on it and it is still going strong.

I have 2 bikes. A 2003 Trek 4300 (MTB), which I mostly use for grocery shopping or hooking on my daughters bike buddy and doing any rides which require me to climb large hills as my road bike has bad gear ratios for hill climbing :P. I live on the side of a small mountain so I have anywhere from 100-400 ft climbs for most rides And the other is a Specialized Tricross Comp. I mostly use my tricross on my trainer or for doing morning rides.
Photos are attached.

I'm more of a roadie type person...give me a road with a nice hill (but don't make me go down it...I like the ride up, but the way down...noooo). I own at 2004 Aura Klein that I rode a century on--I just recently named him Torres. I don't know why but all the other names didn't fit. Torres is the first name that does. I also own a 2005 Rincon Giant named Winona (it named itself--I knew its name was Winona the moment I saw her in the shop).

My bro-in-law owns some type of roadie made by Giant--and I am in loooove! The difference in weight from my Aura to his bike feels like the difference between a roadie to a mountain bike.

I haven't ridden for awhile--but I miss it! I crave it! I cheer every cyclist I see ! Thank you for this thread.

Nice bike, Jim. I have always had mountain bikes. One of these days, I need to get a road bike.

Also own a Softride Rocketwing

Thanks Tom, The Madone is a great bike. I also own a Softride Rocketwing designed for triathlon/time-trial use. It is fast! Even with me on it!!! It's becoming somewhat of a collector's item because Softride no longer makes it. Here's a photo of me with my Rocketwing shortly after a 20k time-trial race in 2005. Haven't hardly ridden it since then due to illness. I'm riding the Madone right now but after my weight gets down to about 210lbs I'll hop on the Rocketwing again...

I have a Trekk 73 FX Hybrid and I love that bike. I use it to commute to and from work when the weather is nice out. I only work about 6 miles from my place. It's a great bike both for paved trails and for commuting. It's not made for off road though. I might eventually get a road bike, but for my my little hybrid is great.

I have a Giant TCR Zero road bike, with three sets of wheels (training, lighter road wheels, and carbon fiber time trial wheels). I also recently got a Gary Fisher Tarpon all terrain bike for a winter trainer and bad-weather commuter.

I used a hybrid Giant Innova the same way for years, and it did a great job. I replaced the stock hybrid tires with road bike tires, added a rach for commuting, and lots of lighting. With front racks and panniers it did great for touring too.

I commute on a 10 year old Trek 7300. The 35 minute ride is just enough to clear my head and break a sweat. For longer rides I have a Vision R44. I can never remember why I bought that thing untill I get on it. It's so much more comfortable than the Trek, but there's no easy way to lock it up, so no riding it to work.

I'm pretty stoked up about the impending time change. More daylight hours. I broke out the Cannondale the other day and got 9 miles in for a start. Anyone else ready to ride or has been riding?

Feels good to be back.

I ride a Union Royal Mountain bike, though I'm in the market for a road bike. Good mountain trails are hard to find in the area I'm living in now. Now that the weather is turning nice I had to ride today. Just shy of 16 miles on the road today, on a mountain bike. Not bad, but I would have much preferred to do it on a road bike. My brother (who has raced for years) has suggested just getting a spare set of road wheels for my bike. Any input from this group?

Hi Tristen,
That might be an option if you want to save cash. This is the nicest bike I've ever had. It sure makes a heck of a difference when you're pedaling 10+miles. One thing though, when you get on a road bike, you're going to fly!

Ride Safe!

I try to commute daily, 28.4 miles round trip (with summertime longer routes). Always glad to talk with other riders.
