Fab 50s June 28 - July 1

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a great week!I am pleased to say that I have had an excellent week as far as my eating goes! I have actually lost a few pounds. I am also excited to say that I still haven't had a soda! It's been 2 weeks now which is amazing for me!

I haven't exercised as faithfully, so I plan on pushing that up a notch next week! I've missed it because I do love the weight training! How about everyone else? Are you exercising? If so, what is your favorite thing to do? I love the upper body weight training!

I will check back in later, but wanted to get another thread started and see how everyone is doing!

Sweet Summertime

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well. I have gotten back in the swing of things with regard to eating...yesterday I did really well. Today I hope to return to the gym. I've been doing some intense training for a new pt job at a psychiatric er, and between the intense learning curve, the hours and the stress I have not been able to focus. My hope is to return to the program today.

The summertime in Ohio is generally not this hot, but it has been pushing 100 degrees so running outside is not really a healthy option. I guess I will have to do the aerobic portion inside at the gym tomorrow.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy the day! Joey

Hi there BB.....way to go to ROCK out some results from not having soda....a few pounds gone...WOO HOOO. Enjoy your cranking things up next week in the gym. I am making up that your hubby is due back home safe and sound soon...blessings to his safe return. I look forward to hearing more of your results with the increase you are planning next week.

I love lower body weight training and running on the treadmill. I am just back to doing lower body since injurying my left knee over 10 wks ago doing Zumba. I loved Zumba and would love to be an instructor of it yet I might need to rethink that and apply it to the water. Hummmm, some fun research to check out on that. I am feeling stronger each day and I have consistently worked out 6x a week for the last few weeks at a more intense rate due to a healthier knee...whew! I am planning on kicking off the am of July 4th with a fun intense workout in the gym of full body weights and a 40 minute cardio. How will each of you plan to do for your July 4th workout? Big ole hugs, Chris
PS---I think that I never shared something fun about my birth name....CHRIS...it means Consistent Health Results Inspire Success...

HI there Joey...
Great job on getting the eating plan where you want it to be... woo hoo
All the best with the new pt job...sounds exciting, challenging and growth producing. Have fun with your aerobics tomorrow and HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE... Us Oregonians would melt with that sort of heat. Be well and stay safe, Chris

Hi there Joey
Yes I had dropped 11lbs and then went on a crazy carb bread crazy day so I get the fun of reloosing a couple of those pounds. I get it that the food is more important then the workouts yet I know that it all together is important. Are you getting in all of your water daily?

Back in the Saddle

Hi everyone! I was up at 4:30 am today...going to workout before work because otherwise I just don't have the energy or motivation.

Back to eating right also today. I did the eating and workout program (BFL) religiously for 5 weeks and did not lose a pound. I did however feel better. It was frustrating. This "50" thing seems to be immpeading my ability to lose weight.

On July 11th I go to a GYN to see about a hysterectomy, so perhaps that will make a difference. I'm having extreme symptoms that causes me a great deal of grief, so we will see what happens.

Today I will begin with a lower body workout-I enjoy that. Upper body seems to be a struggle.

Have planned my meals (and times) for the work day. How is everyone else doing?

Joey

Chris, I am drinking 96 oz of water each day. I think this perimen has a lot to do with it...I go to the doc on July 11th. Having many, many symptoms (including weigh gain) that are causing me a lot of grief! I am back to it today. Will try again. Did 5 weeks religiously and did not lose a pound. Frustrating!

Hello to all! I've been having a rough time getting started. I attended the Transformation Camp June 22-24 and was totally stoked. I had to attend a conference in Co Springs the week following the camp. Food planning wasn't optimal as al three meals were provided. I managed to make some good choices but did zero logging or posting during that period. My intent was to jump in full force on my return last Friday. Not happening as quickly as I anticipated. Forced myself out here today to post where I'm at and completed assignment 1. I will do the rest of my shopping over the weekend coming up. I did manage to buy some fruit, veggies and yogurt and cottage cheese and have shakes at hand all the time. I look forward to getting to know all of you who are in the same 50's zone. I'm at the uppper end of fifty now at 58 and have no idea where time has gone to get me here!
I am having a full knee replacement on August 27th so I am working around the knee in my workouts. Pain is not a fun companion, but that's where I'm at for now. My goal is to get 20 lbs off prior to the surgery which is totally doable if I stay on track. So I will post every day in my Camp group and to you ladies. Good bad or ugly I commit to post. Have a fun and safe 4th and I am going to take some veggies and a shake along to the bbq I'm attending just in case the chicken on the menu isn't what I expect.
So whoop there it is and for now I bid you ado.

This is week 3 for me. I have not done great this past week with my diet. I haven't done terrible, but always room for improvement. I didn't lose any weight for the week, but I didn't gain any either..whew.
I have lost 6 pounds so far. I am dealing with an injury that I am worried about staying on track with. I have been working out regularly up until yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey there Livinwell,
Oh there is such power in posting where one is at. All the best with the knee work around, be safe and careful. I just spent the last 10 weeks recovering mine and still in process...yet, I do not need a knee surgery. All the best to the up-n-coming knee surgery. You sound well prepared in your moving forward.....wooo hoooo. So, welcome back to here and thanks for your sharing.
I find this thread and the gals here so inspiring!
I did notice something in your posting.....and my moto is, use what works and toss the rest. So, if you are open to some feedback----I noticed that you state "with your goal of 20 lbs gone before knee replacement ""if"" I stay on track it is doable.....what if you switched it up a bit with
"""AS I stay on track....I am 20 lbs less by my knee surgery!!!!!!! This may sound alot more empowering. Give it a go!

Blessings, Chris ... and happy 4th to you and yours

I just came across this group and joined. It's really hard finding a group where I belong so felt like hanging out with older ladies like myself might give me the right motivation I'm needing at this time in my life. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Question: Where do we post before pictures?

I've been having a really hard time losing weight so started this plan 2 weeks ago and so far have lost 6 lbs.

Staying on plan...

Nutrition:

2 days protein only
day 3 protein, veggies, 2 fruit
day 4 & 5 protein only

day 6 repeat of day 3
day 7 free day

Exercise:
Tues: Jogged 3.1 miles, walked 2, and added a 55 min cardio workout with friends
Wed: band workout with friends
Thurs: 45 min cardio workout
Fri: Jillian ZONE workout
Sat: 3 mile run, 2 mile walk
Sun: off

I'm on week 3 of the Summer Challenge. Start date was June 11th.

Everyone have a blessed week
,

Bev

I had 5 days off work and got into a routine. I am back to work which is usually 3-4 12hour shifts 7a-7p or 7p-7a. I loose my motivation.....this has been a constant problem for me with exercising. I usually do pretty good with food except when it gets to my 3rd or 4th night. I know I am not the only one who works crazy hours. Please give suggestions. Thank you.

Way cool gaga......nice to meet you. What a super excellent set of results in two weeks.
I sure find this group inspirational and I know it is a place that I can come to just BE.
I played this past week in the gym as well burning up 1600/1200/1000/1000 calories and today going for another 1000 burn, I can't wait to see the results tomorrow morning when I weigh in. I did have July fourth be my food free day

Hi there jyl. When I worked 4 ten hour days, I would plan my food two days in a row by cooking ahead of time and portioning it out. Another idea in regard to exercise for my fourth day was the toughest was to one week plan that day as my rest day and the next week plan on the fourth work day to do a exercise every half hour like pushups, sit ups, jump jacks etc so by the end of my shift I was still burning calories up to the time that I went to bed. Of course those exercises every half hour where two to three sets of 15 - 20 so it only took a couple of minutes. Oh I forgot that once I got home on my fourth day of work during some mindless tv I would do a few exercises during the commercials. Well I hope these are some motivating ideas. Blessings glad to have you joining us all here. Chris

Top of the day to you all,
I just completed Exercise #14 of 18 this morning. Wow, if you have not gotten there yet...I encourage you to. It is about unhealthy habits. I wish that I had done this piece of my homework on last Friday. I had a bit of a slip of food over the weekend which caused a bit of constipation and a 2 lb increase. I know what to do differently and that was first to look at the inner stuff going on. I am also removing all alcohol for a minimum of 30 days from my body. A fun experiment for me to take on and I have two buddies doing the same thing with me. I am excited to see the difference that this makes in my overall health. I worked out really hard last week and choose to create yesterday as a rest day so I enjoyed the movie Magic Mike with two gal friends....what fun! So, off to the gym for a calorie burn of at least 1000 today. I am managing to include some exercises inbetween my own clients today also. All a powerful way to kick off my week. What powerful steps have you all taken today to make a difference in your inner/outer health today?
Blessings and thank you to all for having a place to journal and share, Chris

The sizzle of summer is upon us, but I have not lost focus.
The victory goes to those who learn to combat the problem and press forward.

I want victory, so I am turning up the heat even higher. We can rock this thing
may we give it our best.
