I Am

I have followed BFL for three years now. Does that make me a veteran yet? :) I am one who has endured many trials, many losses. But then again, who hasn't? Each of us has a story. Each one of us has had times of despair. Each one of us has had the opportunity--the choice-- to either learn and grow from the hard times or wallow in self pity. I have learned that the greatest lessons in life are learned not when things are grand--they are learned when things are at their worst. The trials and tribulations have only made me realize more fully how much I need to rely on the Creator. I believe with all my heart that God has a plan and a purpose for each and every one of us, but it's up to us to be still and silent long enough to really listen to what His plan is. I've learned to put God first above all else and trust that the rest will follow. I've learned to appreciate the simple things in life and understand that sometimes hitting bottom is what is necessary before one can see what REALLY matters in this life. Today I am a fitness instructor and personal trainer--a far cry from the woman who was so fearful and shy that she rarely left the house. I have the opportunity to educate and motivate hundreds of people a week through my classes. I feel like I am finally on the path that the good Lord has set before me. Sure, it took 47 years...but better late than never! .

To me, Transformation Means

Changing from the inside out. Anybody can diet, but in order to sustain long term results, one must change their whole way of thinking, not only about food and exercise but life in general. The best way to transform, as I see it, is to "get your delight right" and everything else will follow. Focus first on God, stop trying to control every minute detail, don't sweat the small stuff, count your blessings, stay humble and simple.

My Goals

My personal fitness goals are to maintain a body fat percentage of 15% or lower, stay a size 0-2, and gain more flexibility. More importantly, I want to continue to grow in my faith and in my relationship with my husband. I want to inspire others and help them to realize that it's never too late to begin a healthier lifestyle and not to "settle" for mediocrity in middle age.

My Intentions

My intentions are to lead by humble example, to always have a kind word and a smile, and to try to change people's misconceptions about diet and exercise--one person at a time.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

Most of all I'd like to inspire my daughter, Courtney, who has so many sensational qualities but cannot see them herself. I'd like to inspire the people who attend my classes, particularly those who are middle age and older. I want people, especially frazzled mothers, to realize that their health is important, that taking the time to exercise and eat right is not being selfish. Modeling good eating and exercise habits and making time for themselves is one of the best lessons a mother can teach her children.
