YouTube - Irene Cara - What a feeling (Flashdance)

(I know....kinda corny, but the song should make you SMILE!)

Each day i feel stronger and survived the weekend tests. I sipped tea instead of rum with my MIL, mixed and poured vats of sangria at my FIL's party while drinking diet coke and felt really, really good. I have linked with a women for sobriety group locally and will try out a meeting as soon as they have the next one, in the meantime there are chats and message boards and I have scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist that specializes in addiction medicine for August 14th.

Thank God for each and everyone of you that took the time to check in on me and send your encouragement. I hope to return the favor someday!
Jennifer,

That's a great post and great news right there. Thank you. I have an idea about the weekends, Anthony Robbins uses a really cool analogy about life in his book "Awaken the giant within", I read it long time ago, so I don't remember the exact specifics of the frame he used but this is what I still remember, he says life (or something else, frankly I don't remember, I need to read the book again) is like stock market, one needs to do their homework, analyse, study stock options, remain on guard, know when to sell or buy shares, they can't just do it however or whenever, etc. and this is how one sucks the best out of it as far as building wealth. Life is the same way. And he is right, how many people had the stock market eat them into a financial ruin whether because they didn't do the proper investigating before making an investment or they were handed fraudulous leads, or they thought they were invincible hotshots that know it all etc. I honestly believe you can use the same trategy toward alcohol since it basically hits pretty much the same way. Much like stock market, alcohol is nobody's friend (I dare anybody to prove otherwise). If it's not kept within 'sight', it will mercilessly hit as hard as it can whoever is within its range, it doesn't discriminate. This is a universal rule that applies to every single human being. Alcohol is an enemi, it is literally the devil liquified. This is one of the approaches you might want to start appraoching alcohol with on the weekneds and even outside of them. Use it to your advantage instead of letting it use you to its own. Alcohol dealers are getting your nice unperishable cash while handing you misery, destruction and pain in disguise. You should work to outsmart them. I mentioned the visualizing possibility, if you have hard time doing that, you could start by thinking, it's just as good and effective. As you start to strengthen your connection to Christ via the thought, you will be able to bring back the thought on a moment notice whenver and however you are being tempted. The good thing about thought is depending on what thought one choses to hold in their head at any given moment, the brain chemistry shifts accordingly, so I would strenously recommend you work with that since it is literally a double edged sword. There are also scriptures in the bible that you can use to combat temptation and what not.

Lord Jesus,

I ask that You claim back your child Jennifer by dissolving any bondage she might be under, whether self imposed or not Lord. Come into her life Lord and cleans and shower her with Your mercy, generosity, forgiveness, love as well as strength. Lord, I ask that You stand between her and this like the undestroyable Shield that we all know You are Lord. Feed her Your insight, and energy and arm her to be able to fight effortlessly and in the process spread Your Light and Healing to Eternity. I confidently Trust that You will Lord and Thank You for it ahead of time.

Thanks Coach! It means so much to me that you're looking out for me! Today is my son's 3rd birthday- we went to the beach and on the way home there was this fleeting thought- an ice cold beer on the deck would be great after a day in the sun, then... I don't do that anymore! Amend- Iced green tea would be awesome on the deck after a day in the sun! And that's where we are! Love to you!

BlessedTulip, Thank you for the prayer. I do feel well and free of bondage. I am guarded however as I know that the devil without is waiting for the devil within to gain strength. Good thing I have such great friends praying for and with me.

I too read the Giant Within years ago and believe it could be of use again. I remember the analogy of everthing boiling down to creating pleasure or creating pain and then leveraging that to create change. I think I have identified enough pain to avoid the demons. Now the work is to create the pleasure associations to maintain that resolve.

That's good, you are gonna have to be on guard pretty much 24/7 for a while til you crucify the devil within. I can tell, it is already crying and moaning out of terror, and to that I say Hallelujah, praise you Lord!

would you be interested in reading it again and we start a thread where we discuss it chapter by chapter? I think that book belongs in this site since it trains one to reach within and dig the giant out. And since that is the heart of transforming? what do you think? or if you have another book in mind, I'd love to check it out. Let me know .

Hug,

Let me know when you're ready then, if not, another relevant book to the transformation process will be just as good. Thanks for responding Jennifer.
