How an alcoholic planned for 4th of July.. a look back.

This time last year I was just 33 days sober and planning how I was going to avoid alcohol filled environments over the 4th of July weekend. The struggle I was facing is that in order to avoid environments with alcohol it meant staying away from my friends. The same friends that have kids that play with my kids, the same friend that I went to school with, the same friends that we spent Christmas with.... Today I have new friends and a new perspective on life.

Over the past 8 months I have become totally consumed with the subject of human change. How many of us have faced this situation:

We know what we want to do.
We are motivated to do it.
We know how to do it.
Yet we don't do it!

How many millions of times per day does this situation happen?

We have whole armies of change technicians; doctors, counselors, books, tapes, mentors, support groups, etc... Yet human change when it really happens is so rare. So rare in fact that I refer to it as magic! Yes when humans change it is magic!

What happens when humans don't change? Unfortunately, they experience the same emotions each day, have the exact same conflicts each day, have the same wants each day, have the same view points each day..... etc... I think of my parents they battled the same issues their entire lives with NO change.

I will work on experiencing new change, new perspectives each and everyday. I will be all that I can be for I am energy and energy is pure potential. Along the way I will learn from others. Today and everyday is the last day of the way it use to be..... that is the daily mantra.

Go out and make some magic! You can do! I believe in you!

Much light and care,

Chris Winters

Thanks for your post chris...I can totally sympathize with the the above statement. I, too, have an issue with alcohol and its hard. Its the enternal struggle in my head btwn the good angel and the evil devil...I know what I want but find it hard to escape old habits, rituals, experiences. Thanks for the post, I know I am not alone on this one.
