I sell cold beer and fine wine

I have been watching body for life, EAS, and now Bill's transformation.com web page for a long time. Three years ago my Dad was told he had cancer. I own a restaurant which makes it very easy to go and grab a cold one to wash my depression away at the end of the day. My consumption of the wrong food and beverages have taken a toll. My father just died on May 2nd, he was my best friend.
I have by my side Porter Freeman's book "Finally Fit at 50". He tells a story about a scorpion who needs a ride across to the other side of the pond. The frog who offers to help, worries about the stinger of the scorpion. The frog was told, Dont worry I promise not to harm you. The frog trusted in good faith and gave the scorpion a ride across. Right before the end of the ride the scorpion fatally stung the caring frog to death. The frog asked the the scorpion "why"? the response was..."it's my nature".
I've just have read Deb's thread on alcohol.

Today's the day!

I am a 51 year old pair shaped man who will not fail in Transforming.

I Quit alcohol and am starting my journal today!

I have never done a challenge but know that Bill says the "Why" is most important. My reason is my Kids. I spent so much time and thought on making My Dad's life the best it could be, I neglected my wife and kids. No longer!

Thank you for listening, I needed to vent. I'll be back tomorrow.

Mark

I am logging in every day from now on and

Mark - Welcome to the most amazing place on earth. I have found so much love, encouragement and support from here than any other place. It will amaze you. Fasten your seatbelt...you're in for one helluva ride.

I'm here for you if you need a friend.

~ Bella

BTW - Next month I will have 3 years of sobriety. I quit drinking but only because God removed the desire. Lord knows (literally) how many times I tried on my own but it was only when I surrendered the problem to him did it work. Billy is another person who's only 3 mos sober...check him out. He's Stoney's nephew and a pretty cool young guy who has the world ahead of him!

OK Mark. I'm with ya!

I had my last alcoholic drink in '97. It was at a good friend's wedding. About a 4 oz. cup of beer. I had barely had a drink all year...I drank it, and thought...why in the world am I doing this?? I only drank it because my old buddies that were in the wedding with me poured me a cup. I didn't have the nerve to simpy say "no thanks!" Gutless, that was me. I got disgusted with myself, and let me tell you...I don't miss it a bit. Never even liked it in the first place...guess the joke was on me.

Anywho...wanted to let you know I admired you for coming forward. Now that you "know," it's time to "DO" and just BE.

OK man...linking arms with you.

Hi Mark....I'm Deb. Thank you.

That was a very hard thread for me to start the thread you read. I am so glad you posted. We are in this together. You can email me ANYTIME. It was 5 weeks ago last Thursday that I had my last drink. My husband just left for another trip to Mexico (he's going to have to be there the good part of the summer) and believe me last night was hard. Here I sit, sad that he's gone, gin and brandy in the cabinet (gin cuz hubby drinks martini's and brandy because my Mom drinks that when she comes over). I almost got there. ALMOST being the key word. I didn't. I came on line and re-read my original post. Then I thought to myself.....so many people have come forward (like yourself) and emailed me and said how proud they were of me for facing this problem and so many of them have keep in touch with me to make sure I was doing o.k. I read those posts and comments and I didn't weaken. Please, please know that I am here for you and anyone else that can use my help. I was brought to this site for a reason....I know this. Stoney knows this. He has been my rock. Let me try to be yours. Love you! Deb ÜÜÜ
