Transformation Cards
Hi all...I was looking for a way to motivate myself to do some artwork, and also a way to motivate others to be creative. I found this really cool site that talks about creating "Soul Cards" for yourself along certain themes. These cards are a work in progress to help you with deep introspection and inner transformation work!
From the Soul Collage website: "Use the collage cards intuitively to answer life's questions and participate in self-discovery. Joyfully deepen your understanding of the relationships between your personality parts, you and your family/community/world, and you and your dreams, symbols, and Spirit." So I had an idea..... How about creating a deck of cards along the Transformation themes and assignments over the course of the next 18 weeks? So here's what I came up with: Materials: 3x5 cards, magazines, picture books, photos, scissors, glue Process: Create 4 cards for each of the 18 assignments along the following themes or "Suits": Inner Transformation Outer Transformaton Paying it Forward/Universal Law of Reciprocation Transforming Negative Beliefs Basically, you assemble visual images....cutting them out of books, magazines, etc. Don't limit yourself in any way. Cut out whatever images appeal to you and you can save them in a file folder or a box for later use. (great way to get rid of those old magazines & newspapers too!) BE CREATIVE!!! You can also use printed images from the internet and found objects, scrapbook supplies, whatever! While holding the "theme" in mind, assemble a card and glue down images that you feel best represent what you are going through, feeling, hopes, dreams, goals. Each card will be unique to YOU. Use the cards for each assignment to inspire you and remind you of where you ARE, where you WERE, and where you WANT TO BE!!! That's it. Just an idea. Take it and FLY!!! I'm attaching some "Soul Card" images for you to get an idea of what they look like: Praying for Time The Inner Feminine ![]() Happy Inner Child Mother/Housewife The cards can be any size...actually the soul cards are 5X8. But you can make them as small or big as you want. Use a good base...card stock or illustration board so that they won't warp when you glue down the images. You can also embellish with paint, marker, glitter, fabric. Whatever! Lastly, if you DO some cards, scan them and post them! Let us know what your Transformation cards look like!

Liz, I LOVE this idea and how you've related it back to our assignments. I may need to get more magazines, but I'm definitely doing this! I did an initial dream/visual board this time, but this idea will just take it to the next level for me. You are so creative!!!!
Thanks, Diane |

I got such a Salvador Dali feeling from the top two. Like his Hallucinogenic Toreador.
Great work...LOVE IT! Just came back from St. Pete's where I visited the museum so that's probably why I'm getting that Dali vibe. How are the cards coming along? Steph |

Oh HOW cool! I have a couple of decks of blank playing cards from the school supply store and I am SO going to do this.
Have you ever heard of the ATC's (artists trading cards) this would be fun to do and swap with each other as well. ![]() |

Hey Teri...I'm a member of IllustratedATC's and I love it! It really would be fun to do a swap. Hmmmm you have me thinking now! I am going to ponder this and get back with you...maybe we could do a t.com member "inspiration" card swap?? Like say, take your favorite quote and put it on an ATC format?? What do you think everybody? I could host it if you'd like...let me do some research and I'll get back with you all this weekend!
Thanks for the great idea, Teri!!! ![]()
