About 2 miles yesterday. Won't be around for the next couple of days because my mum's here.

Hello my dear my darling one. I had a look at Blackheath and found myself filled up with longing to be there with you. Some day. I found some great exercises you can do sitting down check it out:

Then Luke DB recommended these. The second is standing but still movement called Zhan zhuang and I am so excited about this. I am starting this minute.

He is studying with masters of this art in China. His blogs are absolutely beautiful. Check them out:

Have a wonderful weekend dearest Fimbrethil. *hugs*

Thank you so much, Tizz! I shall definitely try these out later on.

Years ago, Richard had problems with high blood pressure, and he found some success in controlling it through relaxation techniques.

Have to admit, I haven't tried them yet, but I'm still meaning to do so! Also neglecting the spiritual side right now - thinks - must stop using pain as an excuse! I'll be much less of a wimp when I get used to it - I've just been spoilt for the past 5 years! I find that Codeine makes me constipated and Tramadol gives me diarrhoea. Solution? Mix and match! My GP said that I could take both at once provided that I didn't double up on quantities - and in any case I'd never take my full allowance! On the hopeful side, I see the consultant 8 September, so will have a better idea of how things stand then.

Still walked about 3.5 miles over the past couple of days, and at least another 2.5 over the weekend, which brings my total to 17 since your last record, Tizz. By the way, I'm going to email you a delicious, filling recipe that I'm sure can be adapted to Vegan!

I've tried zhan zhuang. It's intense. I cannot believe how hard it is to stand for 11 minutes and pretend to be a tree. =) But I figure -- 4000 years of this teaching and it's still going strong, I want to keep trying.

Your solution sounds sound. I hope you get some good answers from the consultant. I've been (as usual) avoiding the doctor. But we hobbits are sturdy and built for long distances. So I'll soldier on. I have been great about riding the bike but my walking has been off this past week because of all these storms. I've been practicing around the house and still getting suddenly no support. It's annoying. I know you're going to say to go to the doctors. I will if you come over here and make me go! *sticks out tongue*

I got the recipe and really appreciate it! I can't wait to try it. The ingredients are going on this week's shopping list for sure.

Great job on all your miles. You inspire me!

Love and hugs,
Dassa

Er "no support" I mean my leg gives out. Bem and Drodo are wonderfully supportive.

Thanks you so much for the much-appreciated hug, El - here comes another! {{{El}}}

I've lost count of my miles right now, but I think it must be about 10 since I last posted. I have to keep going, because I can't drive!

I go to the hospital to see the Consultant tomorrow. He's a nice man - he did the operation on my other knee.

I've just written quite a long post - then pressed the button and lost it!

I think it's now about 29 miles since the last grand tally, as I did another 2 miles yesterday.

The minor miracle is - my knee feels much better, due to a steroid injection! My consultant decided there was some life in the old joint, and that an injection might be beneficial. I'm a little dubious, since the one I had in the other knee was beneficial for a fortnight, and my next appointment is in 4 months' time but, as he said, no two knees are alike - even on the same person! There are many cutbacks in the NHS at the moment, so there is a reluctance to perform operations except as a very last resort - and since we're lucky enough to have free healthcare, I can't really complain. This injection wasn't painful, which surprised me, because the last one was. I asked my horrible consultant whether is was painful, and he said, "Certainly not! I must have given thousands, and I've never felt a thing!"

I went on to visit 'my' ward immediately afterwards, and it was a good thing I did, because there was a lady there who needed reassurance and TLC right THEN - the afternoon wouldn't have been nearly so good. I stayed with her for about half an hour. The ward staff are so overloaded (those cutbacks again!) that, with the best will in the world, they don't have time to sit with one patient.

Dearest Fimbrethil, I'm so glad that doc fixed you up enough to walk. I think it's marvelous that you are able to sit with folks in the ward. As I mentioned to you before, there is no chaplaincy assistant program here, but it would be great if there were. Being in the hospital is such a dreadful lonely experience for anyone. I'm sure the lady you spent that hour with is so grateful to you. *hugs* Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi, everyone, I'm back - but I've completly lost count of my mileage! I reckon I'm still averaging about 8 miles a week, so I shall work it out on that basis some time!

...and another couple of miles today! R's had the week off, so we went to Osbourne House on the Isle of Wight. The hovercraft ride was less than delightful, and it was also late, so we missed the bus on the IOW by about a minute - but otherwise, it was great! I did wish I could walk as well as I did even 6 months ago, though - the grounds were amazing!

Wonderful dear Fimbrethi! Hovercraft goodness me. Such magical devices to be had your way. I've heard there's a lot of magic near Wight. =) Those photos are wonderful. It makes me want to build that in that little alternate reality we sometimes share.

Love,
Dassa
