WorkoutGuy's Committment

I'm in for the half-marathon!

I have my hotel reservations but have not yet registered for the marothon. I'm holding off on this because I'm also considering the full marathon, but I'm not ready to make that committment yet. So, I'll probably wait until the last minute...need to check on the final registration date.

YES! I plan on raising money for Make-A-Wish!

My Inspiration is to meet all of you folks in person.

I am registered and completing the half - probably a little bit of everything...running, walking, crawling - doesn't matter - I WILL finish! The 18th is my brother's birthday - he began his heavenly life at 17 - this one's for you Don!

Clarissa I will be there - I am already training. I will not be running but I will be walking. I have committed to helping my walker friends get across that finish line in 4 hours or less. No Transformer left behind! Dave and I are signed up for the Half and well as our good friends Steve and Margaret! I think Dave and Steve are planning to run.
I have already put out a thread to see if there is an interest in fundraising events in the DFW area.
I LOVE PINK!!!

I'm in! I ran my first 1/2 in March and it was such a great experience. I can't wait to be with the t.com community and run! I'm also running a 10 miler 2 weeks before! I'll consider that another practice run! Hubby's also coming and running in the 1/2. It will be his first 1/2 but he's also done 10 milers.

I AM IN !!!

Registration paid.
Flight paid.
Hotel paid.

I am there!!!

My inspiration: This place is my inspiration. Seeing all the people training keeps me going everyday, too. As I run I think of others.... "Well if they can do it, I can, too..." "We are 'suffering' through this together." I also think about crossing the finish line and how awesome that will feel.

I have NEVER been an athlete.
I have NEVER challenged myself "just to challenge myself."

This is a HUGE step for me. This is waaaaaaay outside my comfort zone.

So, my other inspiration is to do this for me.

I will not quit on myself.

That sounds selfish when it is for such a great cause. I believe in the cause, but then, it's easy for me to believe in a cause. It's always been a challenge to believe in myself. That is what I want, to believe in myself. To not quit on myself.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you!!!

Clarissa it will be an honor to be invited to run with so many beautiful and giving spirits that day. Thank you for the invitation to be a part of one of the biggest events so far in my life. The day I married my beautiful Bride Vikkie and the Births of my wonderful children will always hold high rank in my life and I think this one is going to be in close proximity to those events in my life.

My intention has been in my heart since 2/4/09 and that intention is very humbling yet empowering to Make A Wish come true for a young person that is in need of that positive energy in their lives to help them to know that there is A rainbow that still shines for them and people that care about them that do not even know them.

My wife Vikkie facilitates a prayer shawl ministry at our church and the letters she receives are such an amazing gift to the soul when people express their feelings of love and gratitude that complete strangers have given personally of themselves in this kind of way for them in time of life changes due to health, divorce, losses but also of celebration of life like births and weddings. Please put the thought in your hearts to be a part of this team to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish foundation and the gift will be yours also I am sure!
I will also be wearing A Pink ribbon in celebration of life for my loving Mom who is a Breast cancer and uterine cancer survivor.October is ALSO Breast cancer awareness month and this will be my way to celebrate more time with her on this Earth. Love You MOM!!!
See you All In Denver !
Peace,
Dave

Yes, yes, yes!! Count me in. Running/jogging the 1/2 is jumping out of the box for me. It is something I have never done before. I'm not only running for Make-A-Wish, but for my own children too, to show them how to accomplish anything once your mind is set. Look out Denver here we come!

Don't wait!! The field is limited to 12,000. You CAN change from full marathon to half, even on race day! Here is a cut and paste from the website about their rules:

Switching Races:
Switching from the Marathon to the Half Marathon:
If you would like to switch from the Marathon to the Half Marathon, simply email your first name, last name, the mailing address you registered with, and your new predicted finish time to denvermarathon@eliteracing.com. The deadline for submitting your change is August 30, 2009. If you would like to change from the Marathon to the Half Marathon after August 30, 2009 you can simply run the Half Marathon with your Marathon bib and your timing tag will reflect the change.

I will be there running the HALF with you Clarissa and everyone else! I'm so pumped about this. First and foremost, I want to help raise some money for these wonderful kids, who shouldn't have to know pain and suffering like they do.

Secondly, I feel that this is my year to change my approach in how I will live out the 2nd half of my life . I want to set goals and complete them! All too often, I would say I would do something and then not finish it! That became my normal. This is the year that I will be the change and MAKE A NEW NORMAL for myself. I don't just want to go through the motions --- I will live each day with purpose! This is the year.... this is my year. I don't want that to sound selfish. I'm just making changes and it feels really good. It will be amazing to cross that finish line with everyone from this community.

Yes Clarissa, count me IN!!! I will be running the 1/2 Marathon. I already have my hotel and airline booked up and I am in the middle of my *novice* prep-training. I will be glad to raise money for the kids through the Make A Wish foundation. That sure gives an extra motivation when my lame excuses creep up in my head and they want me to stop.

That sure is going to be a super energized event!

C'mon Transformers we can do it together!!!

I signed up f or the conference when it was first announced and I registered for the 13.1 mile run last week. I guess that makes me the pig in a ham and eggs breakfast - a chicken is involved;the pig is committed! I've never run further than 10 miles in my life! I am so looking forward to meeting you all!
peace.
