You are soo right, Dusty...You'd think I'd know that, since my kids and I (well, mostly the kids) watched The Wizard of Oz literally HUNDREDS of times. So, since I obviously can't be the wizard (that role is reserved for you-know-who), maybe I can be a flying monkey! ...although, one of the munchkins would fit since I am pretty short....

Cute Laura. And funny Dusty! I think you have the casting right for Dianne for sure.

Did you know that the Yellow Brick Road is a symbol of Transformation? The Golden Spiral (Phi--the golden ratio) is the spiritual path's pattern. It's a good direction to travel. (The Right Nutrition logo is the Yellow Brick Road. )

The Emerald City is a symbol of a Heart Chakra, the 4th, which is green, of course. Dorothy follows the Yellow (color of 3rd Chakra--solar plexus, which is 'gut feelings') on a journey to the spiritualized heart... she looks everywhere for her truth, and finds her true home is within her heart and soul. And this, she has had all along.

Dorothy undergoes a spiritual transformation and breaks through to a higher level of truth, wisdom, and love.

Dorothy’s three companions; the Scarecrow [brain], Tin Man [heart], and Cowardly Lion [courage], represent the mental, emotional, and physical bodies.

“There is no danger that dauntless courage cannot conquer, [Lion] There is no trial that spotless purity cannot pass through, [Tin Man] There is no difficulty that strong intellect cannot surmount.” [Scarecrow] --Helena Blavatsky (creator of the Oz Mythology which L. Frank Baum later put into his book).

Dianne's character is Dorothy's Spiritual Guide (perhaps her own Over Soul).

And the Wizard... he has no real powers... when it's your time for the veils of illusion to drop, you will clearly see that the wisdom which has been attributed to him... that too, has been with you all along.

(8 years of studying transformation mythology and wisdom traditions yields a good bit of trivia on almost every great story you can think of. = )

I don't see the Wizard (of Oz) as a God archetype but rather a man that others (unawakened) might see as a god (lower case intended). He is more along the lines of a Spiritual Guide.

Ruby crystals were said to help remove earth-bound spriits and call-in Angels, open up access the spiritual realm, and assist with astral travel. The Red Crystals were also thought to purify and correct trapped energies.

'I want to go home...' over and over. That is clearly white magick. Spell casting.

Overall, it symbolizes the creative power of the mind and heart's intention put into action.

WOW!!!!! I love this thread and Bill you are a plethora of information. It is all very simple but I never saw it all that way. I did not know that about the yellow brick road and I never knew that about the Emerald City & Ruby Crystals.. Very cool!
I'll take the role of the Wicked Witch who has Dusty drop on her as my before Transformation self! OK Dusty, waiting for ya! Let me have it! Ready to have that person written out of my life story!!

Interesting thread for sure! Humdinger as the Scarecrow - I like that! I think I'm more like the cowardly lion - not yet ready to be bold and courageous and do what I have to do to really transform. Love all the symbolisms Bill - did you happen to see the play Wicked? It had some great twists on all the WoOz characters - I especially liked how the wicked witch of the west was portrayed - not as someone inherently evil, but someone who has been mistreated and dealt a tough hand. She rose above it all - ok, she did do some mean things, but in the end she saw the light, so to speak, and found love - in herself.

The Emerald City is a symbol of a man-made Heart Chakra, the 4th, which is green, of course. Dorothy is on a journey to the spiritualized heart... she looks everywhere for it in the external world, only to find, in the end, her true home is within her heart and soul. And this, she has had all along.

Wow, Bill...That was awesome - whoo! So, does this mean I get to wear that big pink dress and carry a sparkly magic wand!!! Oh, I always loved Glenda! She’s so glittery and pretty!

Laura - what a cool post - thanks for including me. I'm honored to be the good witch considering there was a time in my life when I was truly the wicked witch... lol
