"ANSWERING THE CALL"

Who is here for the long haul? Who has the fire, the passion to succeed?

I am providing a brief statement of my intent moving forward.

I am still with you!

I will always remember the moment. My wife Anne and I were strolling
along Water Street in my downtown, and we looked into an empty retail
space available for rent. My wife Anne expressed a passionate thought.
The words were "Wouldn't it be great if some day we could have our own
place"? I looked at her and asked "Is that what you really want"? She
nodded yes. But by looking into her beautiful eyes, I actually saw our
future. The next thing we knew, our bold thoughts and actions took off
like a rocket. I have heard that the moment one definitely commits
oneself, then Providence moves too. Well, all sorts of things
started to occur which were unexplainable. A whole stream of events,
unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which
neither one of us could have dreamed of, started to work with us.
Before you knew it… a new restaurant was born!

The community volunteers who helped us open and run the place were,
and still are, priceless. Everyone wanted us to succeed. So the
celebrations were enjoyed, and 9 months later our daughter Sabrina was
born! She was bussing tables before she could walk or had any head control.

The first few years of ever evolving technology helped us gain control
and sustainable growth. Setting clear goals and reaching our deadlines
with positive results came after a lot of hard work. So again, the
celebrations were enjoyed, and 9 months later our son Andrew was born!
He was throwing empty boxes down the stairs and testing the frozen
bagels before he had any teeth!

Team Dawson was now assembled. Soon we expanded into
the vacant space next to us. Again the community support was huge!
Ever since day one, our focus on value, quality and the deep sincere
desire to please our family & community has kept us all, on track,
humble and a constant student of life lessons.

My restaurant became a social hub where people would come together and
become apart of each other's lives. Anne and I have always been, and
still are, genuinely interested in other people. So through time, we
opened our ears and listened intently to what people had to say. We
focused on where we could give of our time and talent to help our
staff, family and community in the best way we thought. Every person
and every business has challenges. We have tried to make it our
purpose to find and solve problems so to help others, without first calculating what is in it for us.

Growing older and raising a family on a small Island has been very
rewarding, but not without many challenges. Anne and I try to teach
our children that a perfect person or family does not exist! Things
have and will again go wrong in lives. I know I am far from perfect.
Making mistakes, saying the wrong things, unintentionally hurting
people I love and respect, seems to be a part of my genetic code. But
when we see our progress along the way, with appreciation, a sense of
wellness naturally occurs! Don’t you agree? I find we attract and keep being
surrounded by a very forgiving community! Sometimes saying "Thank You"
just isn't enough. But I will try. My gratitude for the loving and
caring people in my life is endless. There is so much to learn, share
& experience! The adventure of life is exhilarating, extraordinary and
inspiring! The opportunity to be present and accountable for today and
the future is a gift. I know that now J. A friend of mine named Bill taught me…Wasted time is time lost forever!

Now you know where I have been, and where I am now. But where am I going?

It is the summer of 2012. Anne, Sabrina, Andrew (my family) and I
have some news.

Imagine a new restaurant where families of all ages feel comfortable in.
Imagine a place, which will adapt to the needs and desires of the community.
Imagine a place to eat that value's health & nutrition combined with
culinary arts! Imagine My second restaurant... that believes the greatest
exercise we can ever do is lifting others up and making a positive
difference in their lives!

When I went to Camp with Bill and the gang in January, I
looked into Bill’s eyes and set a deadline along with everyone else!
Bill asked us to set reachable and believable goals.

Bill pointed his finger at me and said "you should aim for 190 pounds".

I said OK and added that I would also open a healthy restaurant on top of that!
Well. I did it!...
My weight at camp was 204 and Today I am 184...
20 pounds lighter than when Bill and my fellow campers saw me. My body fat % went from 29 down to 20.

My body and mind are firing better. I am happy and feeling more
hopeful.

Have I perfected this system of Bill's? No...You see I still enjoy
wine at night. So this next challenge will focus on cutting alcohol.

All the stories and continued connection have helped me. Thank you

Gratitude…hmmm…it is hard to put into words. But that smile on my
profile picture is constantly beaming

Thank you for all your guidance!

Enjoy!

Just wanted to write that I am here, ready and committed to start this Journey.. Stated today June 4,2012, and will finish my 12 weeks on August 20, 2012.

I intend to reach and exceed my goals during the next 12 weeks.

I am releasing at least 30 pounds of fat during this summer challenge by changing my unhealthy eating habits and exercising.

2 years ago I weighed the lowest i have in 12 Years... 165.
Today I begin my journey at my highest ever weight ....225

The last 20 pounds came on in since April of 2012. I thought I had it under control and now it seems to be spiraling out.. To gain 60 pounds in 2 years feels very embarrassing.

This is not who I am..This is simply a reflection of the lifestyle that I have been living over the past year. Now it's time to clean up the mess and love myself... all 225 pounds of me. I know that as I love all of me, I will absolutely release all of the weight that does not serve.

I took before photos about a month ago.. but i've gained more weight since than..

Spencer...I will work on some current photos and post this week. Thanks for the challenge!!

Who else is in this challenge.. would love some positive accountability buddies..

I'll be signing up starting Monday. I'm only delaying because I just completed the Spring challenge and don't want to start in the middle of the week.
Good luck to all!

I'm in. This time it's going to be different. This time I will reach my goals.

Start date: Monday 11 June
End date: Sunday 2 September

12 week goals:
1. I will have a fat percentage of 25% (down from current 30.2%)
2. My waist at the level of the umbilicus will be 32.5 inches (down from current 34.5 inches)
3. I will run 10 km in less than 55 mins (current best is 68 mins)
4. I will be comfortable in a size 8 (currently wearing size 10)

My plan:
I will workout 6 days per week.
I will eat 5 portion controlled meals per day.
I will allow myself 3 free meals per week (instead of a free day).
I will remain sober.
I will take weekly measurements.

I'll use my 12 week photos as my starting point.

Happy transforming, folks!

I just signed up. I will post my goals, pics, etc toward the end of the week. I'm waiting to officially start the 21st because I'm recovering from a c-section. I'm not released for full workout yets, but will be within about a week from then. I started my meal planning this past weekend though. I'm really excited! I can't wait to start running again!

Count me in...

I am currently at 10% body fat and 165 lbs.

New Goal = 7% body fat at 170 lbs.

Basically I want to drop body fat by 3% and increase muscle mass so it drives my body weight up to 170 lbs.

Short way to put it... I need to lose 5lbs of fat and gain 10 lbs of muscle.

A bit leaner and a bit more muscular. I never wanted to have that bodybuilder look, just want to look lean and strong.

Also I have promised myself to be more serious about ab work. I would like to carve out some nice looking abdominal muscles.

Legs could use an inch or two, and overall back thickness and shoulders could be increased a bit. I'm pretty happy with my chest and arms.

What are your goals ?

I clicked the magic button today. Something made me look at this site and realized it was today or wait. So, today I start. I have a little planning ahead of me tomorrow, photos, measurements and etc but I need to do something and I was obviously guided here.

Mark....so, so, proud of you. When I first met you in 2009, I knew you would go far. Great way to set goals and achieve them. Now I must get down to see you this summer somehow!!

It is the bewitching hour here in my home town it is almost 12 midnight. Upload two before photos and the photos that I will rotate tomorrow for a better view. Just learning how to upload pictures and can't figure out how to save a rotated photo. I was worried I wouldn't make it. I will write more tomorrow. I need to eliminate stress, by not doing things at the last minute. One of my triggers . . . emotional eating. Thank goodness, I am going to bed when I post this. Too
