Question about scheduling workouts and tennis matches.

I play tennis and am in a round robin tournament at our pool. I currently follow my workout routine on the nights I have lessons, but am not sure what to do when I play matches. By the end of lessons, I get pretty tired because I have done cardio in the AM and my arms are killing me if I have done upper body the day before.

I am not sure what to do on days I have matches. I want to do my regular workout, but I do not want to be too tired for my matches in the evening. Any suggestions?

A good tennis match is a great workout! If the fatigue is too much right now, skip the additional workout or if you want to take your fitness to the next level, just focus through the fatigue.

It really matters what you want...I would say a solid tennis match is fine for one day.

It's very simple.
I play tennis as well and treat a match (or even just drills) as my cardio workout. Tennis is an awesome cardio and you don't need anything else on that day.

That's all you need to do.

Thanks for the advice. I had my first match on Wednesday. I did my upper body workout earlier in the day. I was fine until I got to the end of the match, and then I started to feel exhausted. I was ok with that. I really want to stick to my BFL workouts. I am not overly competitive, so I do not mind playing poorly because I am tired.

Be careful with pushing yourself too much though. I've done it before and it only created problems.

You need to make sure you give enough time for your body (and mind) to recover. If you push yourself too hard, besides damaging your body, you can just get sick and tired of this whole "being active" thing and quite.

Again, if you can do it, do it. I, personally, cannot and don't want to do any sport before or after a good tennis game.

Just don't forget to listen to your body and enjoy what you are doing.
