So if you get the implant stimulator it will enable you to walk w/o so much of the pain and you will be able to workout but just not for a few months? If so, maybe its something to consider so you can start feeling better and even though you wouldn't be able to work out for a few months, you can still eat clean like you said and than once you're able to workout you can.....however, I know doing something like that is a BIG decision that only yourself can make but I hope that everything works out for you with whatever you decide to do.

In my prayers as usual.
Take care,
Shannon

Jerome-I fell horrible that I was not on this thread sooner, but I will keep you in my prayers. You have a big decision to make, but with your family and the Lord's guidence you will make the right one. Just don't give up hope--DON'T QUIT--and keep a positive attitude. I cannot relate to the pain you must be in, but the fact that you have made it 12 weeks tells me you are determined to be the healthiest you can be no matter what. That means more than I can even put into words. Keep up the great work and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Holy Cow Jerome I am a little behind and just read all of this. I am so proud of your will. It is hard to be in pain and keep moving. You sure made that choice that we all can make> Face it and do it anyway or quit. Keep it going we are all watching you and are inspired by you!

Every time I start feeling sorry for myself I meet someone who has it worse than me. Then I think if they can do it then I surely can. Here's the way I look at it. Tomarrow is going to happen whether I work out or eat right or not so.............why not work out and eat right, right? Never give up, never surrender! I need you for my inspiration. Keep up the good work. -Art

Exercise! It's Worth It

We all feel like the exercise is so hard. Because of my bad knee, wrists and elbow, I get frustrated that I don't lift enough and increase weights enough and on and on and on....

Today is the 3rd day after exercising the lower half so hard that when I try to sit I have to hold something and I did the upper half yesterday and worked it so hard that my upper parts feel like they're falling off.

Don't laugh! You'd think I'd figure out how to exercise to build muscle without dying for 3 days afterwards. It's a good thing we get Sunday to rest our muscles.

I love this forum to be able to get answers and be able to help others. I'm glad that I have my daughter to keep me strong. You have a great wife to be strong with. It's worth it. Keep it up. Make sure you take your photos and measurements once a month. It's amazing how pumped I feel after I see the change I've made. It's even better when people you only know from seeing at the gym take notice of the changes you've made.

Keep up the hard work. It's worth it. You're worth it. Good luck on the back surgery. It'd be too nice if you couldn't put it off until your weight was off and maybe ignor it all together. I've found in my case that sometimes surgeries were not worth the surgery. kennie

Well, the implant stimulator is out of the question at least until we can find out how we can get around all the massive scar tissue I have. My Dr. doesn't think I will have good results with it anyways. So I'm just trying my best to deal with the pain. I told him it feels as though my muscles are pulling away from my spine I guess that can happen after 7 lower back surgeries? LOL! It's funny when I think about it actually when I laugh about it, it keeps me from going insane. Still though it tends to be a bit frightening especially today I just got done with my cardio about 15 minutes goes by and I was in the store with my wife and both my legs gave out I went to grab the cart to stop me from falling and it couldn't hold me I went down like a sack of potatoes and with the cart on me, thank God there wasn't anything in it. After awhile the numbness subsided and I was able to get up and just come home and rest. I guess I just did a bit more cardio, next time I will back off a bit. Although it's hard because it feel great when I workout!!!! Well, I just wanted to share what was going on in my life.
God Bless

Jerome,

Goodness man...that is rough and some serious side affects from working out...bless your heart for continuing on! Keep the faith in yourself and do the best you can daily.

A good friend of mine said the following...'do what you can..when you can..with what you can'...a good philosophy to live by.

Jerome,

Thanks for the update. Listen to your body and try not to over do it like you did before....I know it's easier said than done..but taking care of your health should be a priority....its great to hear the progress you have made despite the obstacles you face every day....not sure I would be so driven in your situation....but it's nice to hear that you are and you're continuing on. Kudos to you!

Dude Jerome,

You have already been seeing success while I am just about to embark on the journey. If I went from a double chub down to a large I would be stoked. Don t give up bro you can do it! It sounds like you have been inspired by others here already to continue but you have to keep going! Its already working for you.

Boy did you say the wrong words in the right place!! LOL! Look at how many people are concerned for you! Isn't that awesome! I have a suggestion, and maybe you've tried it, and maybe you'll roll your eyes, but I'd like to suggest it anyway. Try accupuncture....it is amazing what it can do for people who have tried all of the conventional medical suggestions...

Be strong, never give up...do what you can and don't beat yourself up for what you can't! You have limitations but there are always ways around it!
Take care

Just got a call from the Pain Dr. he wants to do more injection blocks in my sacrolilac joints, this will be the 3rd time I am getting these shots I keep telling him that they are not working. But he keeps being persistent. I looked into acupuncture but they are seeing if it's covered by Medicare so we will see the other thing with acupuncture is I have a whole lot of scar tissue and she doesn't think she can penetrate the scar tissue because it looks matted down. I'm tired really tired I wish there was an answer to this.......... BUT I will keep pushing until either God brings one or keeps helping me through it.

God bless

Jerome - I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sure it is so frustrating to not have a solution. Can you seek another opinion (since you feel the doctor's treatments are not working)? I'm no expert on pain and back problems, but I know that sometimes doctors can get tunnel vision regarding treatment options. Be relentless in your pursuit of medical care for yourself.

Do you have the BFL Success story DVDs? There are a few stories that show people doing the BFL program with physical limitations. You may not be able to do very much - but whatever you can do to strengthen your muscles will help (and clean eating is really important!).

I admire your persistence and patience. Hang in there!

Jerome, I'll continue to keep you in my prayers and don't give up hope. Do what you can with BFL and I agree with Jill that if you can seek out a second option, by all means do so!
