We are blessed

I am in Week 8, Day 2 of the challenge. I entered the challenge to have the energy to be the best dad I can be for my baby girl, who is due on July 19th.

Anway, I live in Washington, D.C. I admit, I sometimes think I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. But yesterday's fatal crash on the subway-was a very good reminder that we are all blessed and that life is fleeting and that we should make the most of our time---which just so happened to be today's lesson in my BFL journal.

Hang in there!

I was thinking about the victims of the train accident this morning. They got up and went to work that day and had no idea it would be their last. We can't take even one day for granted. I need to remember that when I feel like I'm just trying to get through the week. I need to cherish everything.

Thanks for the reminder.

Its sad sometimes that it takes such tragedies for us to open our hearts and our minds to the value of THIS day and to live it as we were meant to live it!

You're going to be an amazing dad! You will be the change we all wish to see in our future generations! It starts with YOU!

Make sure you post a picture when she arrives! What a blessing!!!

A quote from my blog last night,

Tonight, I am mainly grateful that one of my closest friends (the mother of my four godchildren), who moved to Washington D.C. in March 2008, got detained late at work and missed her regular train...the one that crashed in the D.C. area at rush hour. I had about 10 minutes of panic when the news broke until her husband called and let me know that she was OKAY! I've prayed for the victims and their families and I am keenly aware that those who were injured or killed are loved dearly by friends and family members. A reminder once again of how fleeting life can be and how important it is to cherish each and every day and to treat our loved ones with the attention and kindness that they deserve!

Wow!!!!!!!! You know I wonder so many times in my life if the lost keys, or the last minute decision to stop somewhere else kept me from being in a horrible accident...I do believe that is true. Thank God your friend missed the train.....

such a tragedy for the families involved.

I have written a blog in the past on this very thing. http://www.transformation.com/Caroly...-Disguise/6244
I used to get so angry when traffic would hold me up or something would delay me, know I look at it as a blessing in disguise.

Great post and congratulations on your little new blessing!!

You are an amazing dad already, for creating awareness and change in your life for the benefit of others. You are already making a difference. When we count our blessings every day, look for the good, always, how can we not stay in a peaceful and grateful state of mind?

Such a great post. I once got an email about September 11th... and all the people that were late that day. It's hard in the moment of being late, or sitting in traffic to remember these things, but it's so true.. we may be delayed for a reason. Thank you for the reminder.
