1 Million Random Acts of Kindness !

There are many opportunities during your day to do a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) to a stranger or anonymously to a friend or family member and there are MILLIONS of different things you can do.

The aim of the One Million RAK Campaign is to create a huge chain reaction of RAKs around the world. Every time you carry out a RAK you pass on a RAK Card which explains to the recipient to do their own RAK to someone else and pass on the Card.

After you have carried out your RAK, go to this site (1,000,000 Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Campaign What is RAKing? ) and post what you did to count towards the target of ONE MILLION! It’ll help inspire others with ideas and eventually you will be able to “TRACK YOUR RAK” and see the chain reaction of Random Acts of Kindness that happened as a result of what you did.

RAKs can be either spontaneous or planned:

THE SPONTANEOUS RAK
A few ideas could be…
- Help someone struggling with their shopping
- Stop and assist someone who has a puncture
- Look for someone to pass your unexpired parking ticket to
- Buy a homeless person lunch
- Feed a parking meter that has run out
- If you get exceptional service, ask the waiter/ess to bring the manager over, and tell them both how wonderful the person was!

THE PLANNED RAK
How about…
- Sending a book anonymously to a friend that they might like
- Cutting your neighbours front lawn when they are out
- Looking behind you! Pay the toll for the car behind you, buy someone a coffee for the next person at the drive-in, pay the bus fare for someone behind you
…the list is endless!

LIKE THE IDEA ? gOOD ! HERE'S WHAT TO DO NEXT

(1) Download and print off some wallet-sized “YOU’VE BEEN RAKed” Cards and have them on you when you are out and about
(get them from 1,000,000 Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Campaign What is RAKing?)

(2) Carry out a Random Act of Kindness

(3) Give the person a RAK Card. They’ll then know to pass on your kindness by doing a RAK to someone else! You walk away with a big smile on your face!

(4) Tell the world about your RAK by posting it here on this thread and / or on the 4000saturdays website, and help reach the magic target of 1 MILLION RAKs!

(5) Print off some “Get RAKing” flyers and leave them give them to your friends, club members, leave them in your local church, library, pin them up at work or college, start a class project at school… Help spread the word!

It’s already starting…

Get RAKing! Make the World Smile! Because Your Life Is Worth It!

I'm wondering how you guys are doing with this - I must say, for me, each day just gets better and better !!

I wanted to share an idea with you ... I've chosen to register on the site under an alias, as it's not necessarily about doing something publicly and it's CERTAINLY NOT about doing something for recognition etc. perhaps you'd like to do the same ?
It really doesn't matter, just so long as you register and start adding to the RAK account (incidentally, I had one of my VERY BEST one's last night ... but I can't tell you about it !!!

Paul

I GUESS THE SITE IS HAVING SOME PROBLEMS -

HERE ARE SOME OTHER LINKS THAT PROVIDE SIMILAR INFO ...

Random act of kindness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation

YouTube - 94.5 KFM Random Acts of Kindness Day

Incidentally - have any of you seen the film "Evan Almighty" ?

I haven't ... but apparently the film ends with Evan and his family on a weekend hiking trip when God reappears to Evan, telling him that the way to change the world is by doing one Act of Random Kindness ("ARK") at a time; the film's central message... (I'll be sure to rent the movie when I'm home next week !)

Tonight Tom and I were able to do an act of kindness. It was so much fun!!!
We went to a Texas Roadhouse steakhouse for dinner. (They have a great grilled chicken salad!). Just as we were finishing up, some people that live a couple streets over recognized us and came up and said some really nice things to us. Offering congratulations and support for a situation we have been going through.
Well after they walked away and went and sat down, we approached the manager on our way out and gave him our credit card information and asked him to please take care of their dinner. Tom and I walked out with such a great feeling. It was seriously a better experience to do it for them, then it was for them to receive it I'm sure!

With that feeling, I know I will do things like that again I'm sure! How fun and what an amazing feeling!

It's taken me a few days to read this post since it started showing up again. I am doing some great things with my students and plan to post this idea on my school blog and invite the kids to participate. I think they will really love it because they are trying to do good things already, and this might spark their interest a little bit more.

I have only just found this thread - and I just love it. I needed something positive today to pick me up and Paul you did it by posting this thread - So I have been officially RAKed!

I love the idea of signing up annoymously - that sounds like a good idea and then the little bubble of feeling good about RAKing others will stay inside and and cause me to smile when I think about the things I have done - so really what I am saying is I think I will get more from doing this. I really is a win/win situation!

Have a great day - I'm sending whoever is reading this a smile and a hug and a silent prayer for happiness for you.

Love - Light and Gratitude
Jaki

I read this thread last week and got so excited, I went to the web site, read it in entirety, printed out the cards at the web site and began to anticipate the opportunity to use them.

It was important to me to be anonymous, so several opportunities passed by that weren't quite right.

Well, yesterday, as my daughter and I checked out at the market, I was doing my usual best to get the very dour-looking cashier to smile: making jokes at my own expense, bantering good-naturedly with DD, but this cashier was stuck in her pits. She was having none of it. I finally offered her a piece of gum, which she declined, but then ran her tongue over her teeth... that's NOT why I offered it!

As I put the last of our groceries on the belt, I noticed the woman in line behind me. She was so sad looking! I saw my pre-T.com self in her all too clearly. When I caught her eye and smiled at her, she simply sighed, sadly.

Thinking quickly, I paid my bill, and quietly asked the cashier to pass the lady behind me this card and cash, then ran away with DD.

I felt so exhilarated! And when I shared with my curious daughter what I had done, she felt the same elation.

Cool stuff.

Gonna do more!

I like this game. There are no losers! Thanks, Paul.

If you guys get the chance read "Notes from a Friend" by Tony Robbins - in the first part of the book he gives a little background about his own story and lays out how his "Basket Brigade" initiative started

Alternatively, check out the following link ...

I read this thread a little while ago and loved the idea so much I quietly started flexing my RAK muscles. I created this anonymous profile tonight so I can share with you some of the things I get up to ...

I'm not suggesting you do the same things I have (especially last night's one!) but I feel moved to share some of them in this way ... you might even want to share yours in a similar fashion (anonymously) Just be sure that they are genuine and true RAKs, okay (smiles!) ...

Last night I helped someone pull three people from a burning car and, after staying with them to be sure they were okay, left them with the Paramedics when they arrived minutes later ... I slipped through the crowd and walked away without giving my name.

By anyone's standards (including my own!) this was a biggie and I'm not recommending that you put yourself in the way of ANY kind of harm at any time but there's a couple of points I'd like to raise about this little adventure (apart from the fact that it's the middle of the night and I can't sleep!)

A. When you are open to help others with no thought or chance of reward and walk around with that mindset, you see more and more opportunities to help others

B. Imagine if YOU had been there last night and the three people YOU had helped were the three most dearly-loved people in your life right now

TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT THAT LAST POINT

However you do it and whoever you do it to, take the time RIGHT NOW to thank God that those three people are alive and in your life right now. Really put all 4 of you into last night's scenario and see what a blessing you are to one another daily and resolve RIGHT NOW to be an even bigger, more deliberate blessing to each one of them starting right this very second.

Don't wait until you lose something to appreciate what it is you had ...

Appreciation is so important...it goes far beyond what exactly is "being" appreicated~ and when you fully give from your heart with any RAK...your reward is that you gave energy and love to somebody or something...and it will continue moving forward!
